1300 GT Gearbox

Morning all.

Just wanting to make sure......

Ive got a 74 1300 Gt LHD.

As part of the conversion to RHD i need to change the gearbox otherwise the starter will foul on the steering column (ive been told this by a few people who have done it).

As i dont want to stray too far from original i want to keep the original gearing.

Would it be as simple as buying a standard RHD 1300 box and swapping the internals over or am i missing something?

Plan is to buy a donor box, swap over the internals then send it off for a refresh at a gearbox builders (new seals and bearings).

Thoughts please :)

Rich

No idea. Its just what ive been told.

As it stands, the steering is on the left and the starter is on the right.

But im looking at starting the conversion in a couple of months and trying to start getting bits together.

I would have thought that it's only the Bellhousing that would need changing on the gearbox.
