Classic Ford October 2017/50 years of the Crossflow special issue

Recommended Posts

Classic Ford October 2017 issue is on sale now! Go hellbent for Kent as we celebrate 50 years of the mighty Ford Crossflow engine!

Incredibly, the second-generation Kent engine is 50 years old this year, and its simple yet easily-tuneable design meant many of us cut our teeth on working on them — and many still are.

You’d be forgiven for thinking that the Crossflow has had its day. Bolt-in kits make more-modern engines like the Zetec a sensible alternative — and let’s face it, on paper they really are. But don’t imagine for a minute that it will fade from view — like the Pinto, the Crossflow will always play a big part in the classic Ford scene, however old it gets. Trends come and go, but the Crossflow will always be there — after all, you can’t beat the sound of a well-tuned example barking away on a pair of 40s.

Also inside Classic Ford October 2017 issue: Cortina 1600E buyer’s guide, reader’s two-door Mk1 Zodiac project, massive Ford Fair 2017 photo fest, Escort 1300 Sport restoration, Old Skool Ford Drag Challenge Round 5, your tech queries solved, cars, parts and projects for sale and much more.
