There must be some very knowledgeable blokes out there who can spot all these changes as it expands further than just Fords with mods. Just think how many MGBs there are about with 5 speed conversions lever shocks converted the tele ones the list of cars with mods that defy the new rulings are endless.

Minis converted from hydro spastic sus, inch and half or quarter su's,  changing drums to disc, each station will need the knowledge of ed china to keep up! Its gonna be fun, even then if you say it was changed before 88 how can they disprove it?

ed china and mike brewer are a pair of !!!!!!!!!!   but yeah its gona be a nightmare! if its like an SVA test for bikes and custom vehicles and  only needs checking the once. and the car can be put back to normal. then common sense says, put original engine, wheels running gear back on. get it checked and then put the good bits back on.

you all need to read the rules they basically are if you have altered the monocoque then its biva which is a strict 8 hour £500 test and a mk1 escort front bumper will fail! please read up on what is happening as its all been in force for years its just now that its being strictly enforced changing all the running gear will mean biva so it all needs to look as standard as possible

good job ive got the original engine box and wheels then, but if they think im putting shitty plastic bumpers on my mk2 then they can kiss my RS. i'll just insure and drive it anyway.

who said you would have to put plastic bumpers on?

if they consider metal bumpers to be sharp then surely they will fail. as it shows on the DVLA site track rod end nuts that could be sharp and are taped up as a fail because a pedestrian could injure themselves.

they will fail iva/biva but an original car or a car which has a proven 8 points wont need an iva/biva test

right i get ya on that. but ive been on the dvla site, and ive either missed it or not understood it. where does it say that you must have an iva test? from what i could get, its either vehicles just built up from old crap, custom, kit cars. it doe's say rebuilt vehicles. but how do they know its been rebuilt, and if you have an mot or not then how will they make you have an iva test? and how do you get the 8 points in the first place?

an original unaltered monocoque or an original unaltered chassis is a must and this gives you 5 points the rest are made up from original running gear steering suspension etc but without the first 5 it will sooner or later get its id removed they cant make you have an iva test but can stop you from using it on the road without approval

as soon as the tunnel or bulkhead are altered as with most fords the 5 points are lost

I'd like to know how they can prove the mods weren't done before 1988, plus my Tina came over modified try tracing that owner in America. Can't see them going that far.

more than likely just offer you COD. and you wont be getting chips with it!
