Orange Is The New Black

Recommended Posts

That does look exceptionally nice, the whole package. Stance, wheels and the shade of orange. Also the mixture of chrome and black highlights and compliments different parts of the car as against all black trims or all chrome ones. There is a lot to be said for the shade of orange used on a particular shape of car. The wrong shade can destroy the effect. As for me doing an orange one it is so not me ! Me being cool calm and collective wishing to stay under the radar, reserved on views and just like to go about my business respecting others views without comment. Prefer the parking out the way and keeping a reserved attendance at shows.

by the way if you believe the latter part of that, there's more gullible people out there than first thought, no wonder people bid over and above 60k for an escort. The old saying.....one born every minute.....LOL.

Under the radar? Hahaha. I bet your literally in the radar all the time with your hot machines. Do the cops just set up a direct debit to your accounts to save paper? That's very eco friendly of you.

You have touched on a very important point about Orange as the colour. There is serious truth in that you do have to select the shade very carefully when choosing Orange for your particular vehicle. Some of the brighter fluro Oranges just dont work. I have seen Focus Orange on a Mk2 and it looked like a plastic toy. Less in your face burnt Oranges are very period and usually work well.

Under the radar col? Your car has so much shiny stuff when the sun hits it its like some sort of luna super nova reflecting off it!  It lights the other side of the world! That escort needs no description at all, just those 2 words....barn find! Sold to some muppet with more money than sense!

I like too

Different width wheels front and back rarely work for me but they appear to be JBW 6's at the from with 7's at the back and it works incredibly well coupled with the perfect ride height and tyres, then add that colour, brilliant!

Can agree with you on that one RP, it just doesn't look right in fact it looks bloody awful. Do it in say cream with a red or maroon stripe and lower it 11/2 would look a totally different kettle of fish.

Do you think its a case of a car design that you simply cant deviate from period muted colours without looking out of place? Creams, off whites, greys and soft blues with as you say a highlight coloured stripe to bring it up a bit? The bright yellows, oranges and vivid greens were a signature of the 70's and when used with earlier designs we cant handle those bright hippy generational colours on our older classics? It could just be this examples original look. With a modified version with bigger wheels it may work but with the air of originality our minds run back to tradition colours.
