Afternoon all.

I snapped a U bolt yesterday whilst dropping a spring for some welding.

So went on Burtons website to look for a new one (set).

Rang them today and ordered new U bolts inc 1inch blocks and 1inch lowered front springs lol.

Could you please put up your pix of your lowered Escorts, 1 and 2 inch?

Standard bodied

Cheers

Rich

Cool pix ^^^^

I wish i had a little more time to decide what blocks/springs to go for.

Im off work this week, and went in after hours and put the car on the ramp  and stripped the back end down.

Hopefully what ive ordered turns up soon.  Ramp needs to be clear by monday morning. Hoping my workmate does the welding in the inner arch before hand or it was all a waste of timeanyway.

2" drop on mine.  Personally,  I think it's too low and might go for an inch kit. Can't drive over those square speed enforcers on the high street without scraping the exhaust.

Mines a mk2 and i started at 2 inch lower and it bounced all over the place, ive now got inch block above and below the spring to give the shock enough travel. Much better,

Would be best if you saw a look or height you liked, then got a measurement from the wheel to arch off that person. Depending what condition your springs are in their block thickness may not be what you need to achieve the same look. Put their measurement against yours and the difference is the block thickness you require.

as an aside here guys, I have a question for those that lowered there own

when I got my blue one, it was lowered, but while taking it apart, it became obvious that the U bolts didn't fit round the axle and hold the bump stop properly, in fact the fit was diabolical

on looking into it, the U bolts on anything non genuine ford, were just bent bar that had been threaded both ends, whereas the ford U bolts were actually shaped as well as bent round to a U shape, ie they were not round bar anymore around that U piece, probably drop forged to get the shape, and fitted perfectly to hold the bump stop

probably done for strength as well, I would have thought

have any of you found the same or similar

I think 2" is as low as you can go on blocks, after that you have to de-camber the springs.

wheels are standard Mexico steels

Theres plenty of sleeping policemen around my way and only want to tap it with the lowering stick. I remember using 2inch blocks in my teens. Bit older now lol.

Will stick the parts on and go from there.
