mk2 xflow slow starting issues

hi guys got a 1600 ghia and when I go to start it the battery appears to not be fully charged and hardly turns the car over the batterys got a full charge I know its got the old style original starter is there a direct replacement new style starter that fits without having to change the ring gear on the flywheel

Have a look on eBay for a seller, aapoldham. Top guy and very helpful.

Give him the code stamped on your starter for advice on what he's got.

I had the same issue on my Pinto. Fitted new starter and it was perfect.

Check out all the simple stuff before defaulting to replacing the starter. Are all the electrical connections good (including earths) and is the timing correct?
