Capri Mk2 Stampede up for auction

Recommended Posts

Given their rarity, I suspect many on here may not have heard ofbthe Stampede?

Along with the Escort Apache and Navaho and also the Capri Commanche, Granada Seneca and Cortina Savage and Cheetah, it came from Jeff Uren's tuning house.

Not sure on the colour scheme but definitely fancy the V8!

I like the paint job.

Look like Jag wheels though

"Our biggest concern,” says Henderson, “was that someone else would buy it and respray it.”

Indeed, that would be the first job on my list!

Noooo it’s pretty in an ugly sort of way.

No, no, no. I'm thinking black, as a nod to the JPS Mk2s.

Now, where's my DA...?

Just paint a common garden Capri black then. This will end up in someone’s collection and never see the light of day again :(

It’s not really to my taste but I think you’ve got to keep something like this that’s so rare original, would be a crime to modify it , as Chris says it will end up in someone’s collection, the V8 s the best bit for me

The paint job isn't original though. Agree with you on all the Jeff Uren mechanical bits though.

No, no. It would be a black Capri with 5 litre V8 and other Jeff Uren gubbins. That's not common-garden ;-)

Sorry for coming into this discussion late but as my name has been refferenced from the original Classic & Sports Car article I feel compelled to respond.  As stated the car is incredibly rare.  One of eight cars built this is the only Mk2, extensive research indicates it is likely the only one to have survived.  Like the paint or not (personally I don't) the art work was commissioned by the buyer through Jeff Uren at the time of the conversion and was carried out by an award winning custom painter. Regardless of personal thoughts the car is too historically important to repaint.

The Stampede has been invited to be the Hall 5 entrance display by the organisers of this weekends Classic Motor Show at the NEC.
