russ105e Posted September 19, 2007 Report Posted September 19, 2007 This car belongs to a friend of mine who used to be Jim Clarks mechanic back in his formula 1 days in the 60's.He's slowly recomissioning the car and will be sold once completed. Its expected to make over 100k at auction. He had an old Lotus f1 car that was sold earlier this year for about 450k
Lotus-Eater Posted September 20, 2007 Report Posted September 20, 2007 That is pure, unadulterated sex. If I had a spare 100k........
lotusless Posted September 20, 2007 Report Posted September 20, 2007 mmmm £100k..... how much do kids go for on ebay.
Mick The Cabbie Posted September 20, 2007 Report Posted September 20, 2007 Proper car that! What rims are they?? Never seen em before..
russ105e Posted September 20, 2007 Author Report Posted September 20, 2007 i thivk they're BRM wheels. They are magnesium and are incredibly light , i tried to borrow them for my 105e and he was having none of it
Toby Posted September 20, 2007 Report Posted September 20, 2007 I want tha' wun! I saw the last one go at auction for 90K plus auctioneers fees when the TWR stuff got sold. Some people have a lot of money, but you can't begrudge it when they spend it on sensilbe things like that!!
Copey Posted September 22, 2007 Report Posted September 22, 2007 i thivk they're BRM wheels. They are magnesium and are incredibly light , i tried to borrow them for my 105e and he was having none of it they look like laser wheels but put on the wrong way round, lol car looks awesome!!!
Delotus Posted September 22, 2007 Report Posted September 22, 2007 That is beautifull, why do i wish that was mine?
Lukey Posted September 23, 2007 Report Posted September 23, 2007 I like the filler neck, straight through the rear deck!! ha
bmxdave Posted September 26, 2007 Report Posted September 26, 2007 Love it! Im trying to get my cortina as close to a replica as possible. These will be a big help. Most of the ones ive seen have had the tank beneath the rear window in a rally car style alloy tank, but this is definately the way im mounting mine now.
geoffersmasher Posted September 27, 2007 Report Posted September 27, 2007 gorgeous, inspiration to cortina owners everywhere
orionmojo Posted October 5, 2007 Report Posted October 5, 2007 really smart makes me miss mine at home
Benny Posted October 11, 2007 Report Posted October 11, 2007 Interesting that nobody has commented on some very unique technical details on that car. First thing I noticed was the heavily offset radiator, and the engine driven pump (?) on the right side of the engine.....then I noticed the large return lines to the tank, so it must be some primitive form of mechanical fuel injection, right? Next, the car has no struts, and some pretty peculiar stiffeners on the inner wings. In the under-car shot, you can just about make out the front suspension which appear to pivot much closer toward the center of the car than a normal Cortina. Lastly, the gear lever comes up straight out of the floor, with no extension housing a la a modern 'box.....what box is it? Tell us more about the car.......please.
