  2. A few months ago I bought a pair of adjustable abutment struts, with top adjustable Gas inserts, I had them delivered to my sisters as she lives about 2 mins away from the seller, eventually they got to me, when I have them home, I noticed they have fixed steering arms? they do look like escort ones, what are the bearing sizes on the stubs? just to check if I have Big or Small bearing struts
  3. Thats because its a Kin....... MAZDA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mazda CAROL 360
  4. I dont fancy my chances, but does anybody have a Raceline water rail for a Zetec/st170 that they dont require?
  5. I picked up a pair of singles the other week, no sure how to tell, does anybody know the distance from the front eye, to the locating pin, it seems a bit short to me, and perhaps the unloaded eye to eye distance.
  6. Have wide 13" tires disappeared, seems the widest I can find are 205s, 215 or 225 would be good, is there a secret supply/supplier somewhere
  7. I know its been asked before, BUT, Im looking for a Single Vernier for my ST170, Has anybody got a single one or a pair lurking somewhere unloved? AND I'm looking for a Sierra CVH starter motor in working condition, anything out there?, lucas LRS707
  8. Might be a easy one, Im looking for a 105e drivers side window regulator
  9. Im looking for a front bowl Zetec sump to suit a Mk1 Cortina or Anglia with standard steering
  10. I have asked all over the place about this, and indeed if you ignore the 3 small wires, you can just run the single feed wire direct to the charging circuit, often the starter live terminal, the alternator appears to be self exciting, so it will charge, however, it wont control a charge light. so you need to run a volt meter. Alternators are load sensitive, so, if you don't need 100 amps you wont get 100 amps, so the engine is not loading up against the alternator. weight its better to run something like a Kubota or Brise, but at the moment its on a budget. so the BIG alternator stays, unless I can bolt the 17ACR that is in the car at the moment in the place of the 170 one.
  11. OK, I have a ST170 with a smart alternator, I want to run it in a 60s ford, so I want to run the alternator as a DUMB alternator, how do you do it?
  12. Welcome, The venerable Classic Capri, interesting, as I am just in the process of gong down the route of ST170/zetec in my 315, 2 door,
  13. With my new project, an early 60s ford, The dash top has the Vacuum formed plastic over a foam and steel core, It has the typical Vinyl cracking, a couple that are quite a big 5mm wide, these dash tops are rearer than the rocking horse excrement, so, It needs to be repaired, it will need filling and recovering with a suitable stretch vinyl, searching the new, elastic fillers for this seem to be few and far between, my thoughts are now heading towards Sikkaflex, as I intend to recover, the grain does not need to be replicated, so I am just using it as a elastic filler........ Your thought gentlemen please
  14. Im looking for a front Nose/front bearing retainer (the bit that the release bearing fits over) for a type 9, anything out there thats not silly money?.
  15. Not at the moment, just trying to get the bits together to Zetec it.
  16. I had messaged him about this engine, it had a blown thermostat O ring, that could lead tool sorts of issues, If Im not being fastidious about purchasing top line stuff, and work to a budget, I think 1.5k is reasonable, perhaps a decent exhaust manifold, Good luck with your build. Is there a thread?
  17. At Last I am in the position of being able to build another Ford, I honestly thought I was going to be priced out of the market, I started looking for a LHD mk1 cortina, Most have a very dubious provenance can be given to most of them, BUT, just as an odd punt around was getting boring I found something that hit the right buttons, one of the 2 unicorns that have existed in 60s fords, one is/was a 2 door corsair, (had one) and then there is This......... its a bit crusty around the corners, not desperate, could do with sills, or at least a good patching, anybody else got a 109e/116e on here? I do need spares........ and a ST170
  18. Thats Lovely, as much as I would love that engine, its a bit too rich for me.
  19. Im just feeling the water at the moment and seeing what's available........ I 99% I want Full ST170 engine, with all manifolds, sensors etc, must be in good serviceable condition, I just want to go plug n Play with my emerald....... what have you, and how much?
  20. Somewhere in the back of my mind, I seem to remember bonnet hinges are generic thru Mk 1 & 2 cortina and Mk 1 & 2 Escort, I think they all fit, worth a check.
  21. So, If was looking for a GOOD, complete st170, on below average milage, what should I be paying...... or should forgo the VVT and buy a 2l zetec
  22. I have been out of the game for a few years now, and have a itch to build something, My car has arrived with a very tired 1300 crossflow, I know Could slot in a 1600, or Pinto, or even build a 1300 screamer, But this its all old hat, I fancy something a bit more modern, Things have moved on a lot since I last played with 4 pots, So, what Engine, Im iunsure. the only criteria is it must be a 4pot FORD, produce in excess of 150hp, and cheap to buy, and what gearbox would bolt up to it, Im after something quick to build thats not going to break the bank and not hard to find I have on my shelf of bits, Bike style Jenveys, and an Emerald 6K if needed.
  23. without a doubt, as we get older things fall apart,Good to hear you are on the mend, Took early retirement last year, still doing a bit of work, but getting stuck into the van, I do still have a ford in the wings, for the wife, a ratty 100e, building a budget 1300 screamer, 1600 block and rods, 1300 crank 1100 pistons, big valve head, and a A8 cam, going to be interesting granny grocery getter
