  1. Thanks Al, i had a look on Burton's website and they list the type 3 box were fitted to quite a few fords: Ford Cortina Mk2 Ford Cortina Mk3 1.3 / 1.6 / 1.6GT Ford Cortina Mk4 / Mk5 1.3, 1.6 (not GT) Ford Lotus Cortina 69- Ford Capri Mk1 / Mk2 / Mk3 1.6 OHC Ford Capri Mk1 -8/72 1.6 OHV Ford Capri Mk1 2.0 V4 Ford Sierra 1.6 i can get one of those no problem, as for getting it machined, would it be similar to getting a head skimmed? another thing, i bought a clutch from Fleetway Clutches Ltd, Surrey , for £50, delivered. I should have it by Wednesday. More than half the price of anywhere else. I will choose a release bearing when i have the bell housing/fork sorted out. I also got a cortina mk4 steering column, uj's and link for the rack conversion.
  2. Cheers Al, is it a cross flow or pinto bellhousing? Mk1 or Mk2?
  3. Nice one Al, thanks very much. My pal has a bell housing from a mk4 cortina, starter on passenger side. I can compare it to your picture. I saw a post on another website, turbosport, i think and someone on there had machined a bell housing for a 2000e box too. Looking forward to your picture.
  4. Thanks Al, loads of info there. Regarding the fiesta rack, they are bolted to the bulkhead of the fiesta, which isn't an option obviously on the cortina, but fits nicely in the space where the steering rods are. As the rack steers from the rear of the struts (like the cortina) it should work ok. I'll have to fab some brackets off the cross member to mount the rack and chop and change some steering column components from a mk4 cortina to get the linkage right. The tie rods are about 25mm too long, so ill have to cut and re thread them. Also the fiesta track rod ends are a perfect fit for the cortina struts.but the starter is still in my way. Regarding the gear box, i just rang my mate and he says he has 2000e box, but no bell housing. I really want the starter on the other side. But which bell housing????
  5. Thanks Al, I can get a type 3 box from a mk4 cortina, would my prop shaft fit that? The reason I'm doing this is for a steering rack conversion. I have a new mk1 fiesta rack, it isn't a hard conversion to do. But the starter motor is in my way.
  6. Hi, the gearbox in my 65 mk1 is making strange noises. I have a type 2 gearbox from a mk2 escort. I know the bolt pattern is the same and i can sort the spigot bearing and the clutch cable. Which clutch kit and starter motor do i need? And will my 1200 prop shaft fit? Any help, very much appreciated

  8. Hi, any one got chrome quarter bumpers, cortina mk1 4 dial pod and rev counter for sale? I live in southern Ireland.
  9. Could be the wrong engine oil? That synthetic and semi synthetic oil seems to boil in my crossflow resulting in the engine starting fine and running ok until you turn it off, then it wont start for twenty minutes or so, until it cools down.
