  1. As its completely finished now, I've had to take some photographs for my insurers to give a guaranteed valuation so thought I'd share with you I've removed and kept the old basket wave seats. They are in amazing condition so sourced some replacement ones and had them recovered in leather. Same with the dashboard. The original one is in storage and this one recovered in leather The only "gap" that winds me up is the bonnet. When viewed from the left hand side, it's slightly raised on one side. My OCD goes into melt down!
  2. Here also: http://www.car-body-kit.co.uk/ford_escort_mk1.html I called a few years ago when I was considering similar. At that time I was told they weren't manufacturing them any more but had neglected to update their web site. This is currently available on fleabay: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ford-Capri-Mk-1-RS3100-Rear-Boot-Spoiler-Ducktail-GRP-NEW-G015-/222674947839 I found an old school panel beater chap in Ireland that was prepared to graft one on to a Mk1 bootlid but he had something ridiculous like an 18 month waiting list!
  3. Hi Paul, As Vista suggests, I own an Apache from Jeff Uren's stables: Essex V6 3100. It's very difficult to find any information on them due to the small number created. Whilst approx 1000 Cortina Savage's were made there were only 50 (ish) Apache's made and only 1700 [ish] cars made in total. I'm only aware of another 3 left in the UK. Jeff Uren died in 2007. From what information I can gather sometime in the mid eighties when he started up an interior design company a fire broke out resulting in the loss of the majority of the "Race Proved" documentation. As a car to drive, let's say it's got a "lively" back end. All the weight is in the front. It sounds lovely though and the torque is mental! Pulling off in 4th is no problem whatsoever. I'll get some pictures up

The cheapest pair might be less "shiney"?

  6. I've seen a few sets on eBay Col. If you don't mind me asking, where did you get them from and were they "silly money"?
  7. Rally Pack, that's the ones. Pretty useless tbh
  8. Vista, are these ones yours? Tex exterior door mirror. Convex anti dazzle glass. Right side. (M68890)
  9. I've got some bullet-style door mirrors at the moment. I can see a very very small part of the road with the drivers one and the passengers gives a lovely view of the pavement! No amount of fettering, alteration etc is helping. So, I'm wondering, what door mirrors are people running that give some vision of the road? Pictures please Thx
  10. I've got an Essex powered Mk1 Escort. Not Broadspeed but an Uren Apache. People are correct in saying it's a heavy engine. Great for powerslides though . With no WC Cross Member you wouldn't know it was under the bonnet. Sounds quite nice too. Having said that, if it wasn't a "factory" build I'd either go alloy V8 or pinto to keep the weight on the front end down. https://www.dropbox.com/s/6e7cokbyvqjawb4/ApacheEngineBay.JPG?dl=0
  11. It doesn't look as bad as I had envisaged to be honest. Does it feel OK when driving?
  12. I got in to a bit of bother in work last year due to a typo. I was scheduled to attend a meeting [with no agenda]. When I arrived, I realised the pointlessness and hastily left after making my feelings known. Later that day I was forced to write a scathing synopsis to the chair of the meeting. Unfortunately the close proximity of the "r" and "t" on the keyboard meant I signed it as "Yours retards" instead of "yours regards" Doh!
