  1. 4 months terrible its my own fault, as I've always been to trusting, but i waited this long so I'm just going to continue, I really don't want to sell it will i have to register it as a q plate which i really don't want to do? Regards J
  2. Ok great and thanks, I'm going to the local dealer in a bit and the bank again the banks a bit of a trek but i do think my best option is the bank, i would have thought that i would have a right to no who i gave my money to, surely they should allow me to see my own transactions.
  3. May i also apologies to the members, for the terrible gramma and typos, i spent a lot off time talking at the back. To Mr duffy, thank you very much for the slipper3 times, i think my written English has slightly improved from all those years ago. Regards J
  4. LOOL Lets face it I'M STUPID AS, I ALWAYS HAVE BEEN its a as clear as day, WHY would i think the DVLA WOULD BE ? Its like asking a TRAFFIC WARDEN for MERCY and a HUG! 2Weeks ago they gave me a PENALTY 2 minutes before my ticket expired. Thanks once again i will update as i try the large dealership near me. Regards J
  5. Once again thank you i will post an update as soon as the check is done its a 1973 model according to the vin basic decipher but I'm on to the local dealer in the next 20 mins with the plates. The previous owner seemed very respectable he told me all about the car and the fact that he also had a Mk1 escort van, he was very knowledgable about Mk1 escorts, a forensic test would be great a i do have tags and a few bits that came off the car untouched i think the car is still registered on the DVLA as SORN I will get back to you later and perhaps ask a sight member for help to decode if needed Regards J Thank you all for the feed back, the local garage man did say it was a lot of hassle and moved on to his Lotus, what i will do between now and tomorrow is, try a a large car dealer, HOPEFULLY you are right as they might be able to check the the REG using the chasis number only, I will also go to the P Office to pick up a V765 I wouldn't, expect the to give DVLAout his details but for the DVLA TO DELETE the details of the previous owners who have registered their cars as SORN, WELLi really HOPE NOT What i was thinking of doing, once i have the name is to write/ asK to see the bank manager as a factor that i paid into some ones account, is there away that they can contact his bank as every transaction is a 2way contract as I'm sure my bank has the persons details attached to the account i paid into. I will ask my bank to send a letter on my behalf, to the account holder, IF BIG IF they agree , we all i no its going to cost, then that might help me to make contact with the person to at least go forward with the REG RECOVERY. What do you if any one has a other ideas please let me no Regards J
  6. Reply to Cult of OSF thank you very much for your offer and consideration, i realise that the chasis number on the 2 plates are only2 parts of a 3 part puzzle as only the previous owner would no the full reg as he is the last registered keeper, I'm hoping that when my bank statements arrive, i will have his full name may be some one on this or another platform may no him, as i said before he also owned an escort van, basically unless someone at the DV is sympathetic, as they would simply tap in the chasis number, the year, the colour, the cc, the name of the registered keeper, vwhich is on their data base would pop up, with the REG the owners name, which i will have in 10 days only helps to follow the only option i have, at least the DVLA will be able to see the same owner name on my bank statement, Im then going to write to all the ford owners clubs asking them to ask any of their members to contact me if they no of the person, as i stated i do no some of the reg but sadly thats not good enoUgh the car sales man said call the DVLA but i don't believe they would allow me to guess the last 2-3 digits. if any progress is made i will up date you. thanks once again J
  7. Hi thank you very much for replying, its been a nightmare , the previous owner did a dodgy repair on the original chasis leg top mount drivers side where i thought the chasis number was also stamped i can only see one letter under the repair the rest is very rusty and has completely rotted away. Would you no of anyone who is a ford escort Mk1 vin plate and tag expert, as I haven't a clue if the 2 vin plates relate do to a my particular chasis number, if so that means i have the chases number as its on the 2 metal plates and the numbers match perfectly, this has given me hope. I did track down the co owner of the garage where the book and plates went missing yesterday, after years of searching, he remembers me and the car he says he will get back to me if he can find any photos he may taken of the car but i will try the hip check FINGERS CROSSED XXXX would you no of the safest place to get a HPI check. Regards J Continuing Well i went to a local garage the owner said, he could not HPI the car without the full registration because the DVLA use that to match the chasis details, as i just can't remember it in full, leaves me stuck, he did add that i should go to the bank you might be able to request a statement, so i went and the bank told me you have to pay to order single statement going back that far, so i paid then the teller said " you do no it gives no address, account number etc you will just get the amount and the persons name, well I've been with them over 20yrs sad. I have to wait between 5-10 days if it does show the correct amount and the name i have in my head, well i guess i will try social media as i will have his name at least, i only gave the back a single year to reach i think i may go back tomorrow a pay again for the year before just incase, save me waiting another 10 days to find the transaction. any body with a helpful friend at the dvla please let me no LOOL. The owner of the car sales garage did show m his 2.2 lotus talbot sunbeam very nice he did ask me to return if i made any progress, so thank you once again for your interest and comment kindness. Regards J
