  1. I'll review these responses once the weather let's up lol
  2. I've got a mk2 van with the standard xl vinyl seats front and back. Back seat is perfect but front seats are failing and I know I said mk2 but as its a van it's pretty much mk1 all around apart from dash etc. I'm not bothered if they're dirty or need a tidy just as long as they're not torn/ripped. These are black ones I'm looking for btw. If there aren't any full seats then just the vinyl will do to upholster. I bought some similar vinyl that even had the fabric backing but the pattern did not match. Cheers in advance
  3. The bulb are not broken no as I put the unresponsive bulb into the responsive bulb holder and it lit up fine. I then assumed it to be the loom so I pulled it out and found a previous repair with tape, unveiling I found a nasty bit of wire on one of the earth's. Fixed it by cutting it out and splicing it which didn't fix it. If it works when brake is applied then the holder is fine (right?) So should I remove the sleeve on the loom and examine the entire lot?
  4. Right first of all, are side lights a legal requirement on older cars such as this escort, as I read that only vehicles after 86 require side lights to pass an mot. The other thing is with my side lights I have. Start with the rear , my OS tail light works when switched but my NS tail light doesn't work however it appears that it is the brake light , so OS is side/brake light combo whereas NS is brake light only. Is this correct? Do escorts only have a single side light on the rear? Now with the front, mainly a part sourcing thing. NS bulb fitting is fine although it no longer turns on for some reason. OS bulb fitting was old and split apart meaning the bulb doesn't hold itself in, ie what do I look up for a bulb holder. Unrelated to lighting but does anyone know where to get correct door seals for the mk1/2 vans barn doors?. Atm I've bodged some side door seals which kinda work but door doesn't close completely. Long topic but had to ask
  5. Cheers mates, I was thinking of one of the 'lites' but wasn't sure which. I'm not on it with the wheel side of things
  6. Not sure if this is the right thread (let me know if this isn't, for future use) but I have a set of deep rim minilites. They are 7j 13 inch and have a set of updated tyres (or new I wouldn't know what to call em). I bought them for my escort but they just, and I mean just didn't fit on the rear and I don't want to modify the body to suit. Therefore I am selling these to fill that hole I made in my pocket. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/144161981631?mkevt=1&mkcid=1&mkrid=710-53481-19255-0&campid=5338273189&customid=&toolid=10001&pub=5575378759&icep_ff3=1&ipn=psmain&icep_vectorid=229508&kwid=902099&mtid=824&kw=lg I'd like to get these sold on to someone who may need them, perhaps with a wide arch escort or some sort. I'm based in Rainham, Essex
  7. Cheers that's quite helpful and I will use that to my ability. In the mean time I have since got both rear windows to slide up and down nicely with the use of lots of lubricant and pushing and the pulling the window up and down. The mini window rails fit perfectly with a little squeezing together to bite the windows better. Another step done
  8. All in place and working noice. Centre console radio and clock is next little thing to fix. Need help on where to wire them. Radio has one plug and one earth point?, clock has two plugs. I'm not an electrician so I don't know what's plug or earth and where those wires should go. Also inside dash is a few loose unplugged wires (bullet style and normal push plug) with nowhere to put them. (under dash panel?)
  9. Long story short, I removed the heater, cleared it out, freed and oiled the fan blade as well as checked the matrix for leaks. Tested it and it works perfectly on battery, haven't tested it in position yet. Also corrected fan eyeball vents. At least I don't need a new fan unit
  10. Update: I've gotten hold of a pair of window lift channels from eBay brand new with seals, only they're for classic minis not escorts though they are identical just shorter. Next step is getting the heater working. It clicks when switched on but that's it. Took off a vent hose and about a years worth of (Portuguese?) squirrel nest and corns fell out. Tomorrow I'll remove the matric and clear that out too. One question though, how do I remove the heater eyeball vents? I'd assume they just pop out but I didn't want to break it
  11. Yeah it's either that or fabricate one. Front glass should work as the glass is the same thickness and it only needs to bolt in correctly really
  12. That's what I'm thinking, haven't seen this kind of escort before so the best bet is to make it myself. It only needs to be simple really, a strip of metal like ali, or hard plastic like you said, with a groove in it for the glass, a bolt hole for the rail and a rubber seal. The original parts are the most rusted parts on the whole car I think, though tbh the car is extremely solid and untampered apart from floor and sills
  13. It is an interesting one, believe to be an export only trait. My dad saw escorts everyone in his childhood and the only 'vans' he saw with windows were the nimbus campers, this isn't a camper however. Australia has the majority of windowed vans but the glass is fixed and smaller. This is Portuguese made btw
  14. If it ends up being the case then it'd only need to be a strip of metal with a bolt hole and some rubber to seal it
  15. Glad to be part of it, it may be very useful down the line
