  1. Hello, I fairly recently bought a JPR Wildcat (e type Kit car) which has lots of Ford bit attached to it and it's in need of attention. I'm planning on fitting a larger engine (V6 from an Jag S type with manual box) but I need some advice on what to do with the rear axle. The donor was a 1981 something (I assume a Cortina as these were popular donors for this kit). Assuming all the parts came from one car, the donor had a 2.0L Pinto, 3 speed Auto box and a 3.44 live rear axle. I believe it's an Atlas, but not sure if it's a light duty or heavy duty. I would also like to upgrade to an LSD one day but I've read the Cortina axles aren't worth the effort (but unsure if this is only in reference to the light duty axles). My other issue is I need a ratio closer to 3.09 (like on the 2.8 Capri). Two issues with the Capri axle. 1. The 2.8 axles seem to be quite pricy, especially if it has an LSD 2. Mounting point are different to my Cortina axle. Note on my pictures below (Don't look at the rust, please don't look at the rust), I have diagonal arms on the pig head, Capri doesn't seem to have these (not sure what layout is best). I'm also not sure if the widths are compatible. I measure my axle to be 53" form inner flanges. I believe the Capri is 52" which is near enough (but not sure if I am measuring it correctly). Should it be flange to flange. Does 53" sound correct for a Cortina? So, given that I want to 3.09 ratio diff, with the option of LSD and I want to but a fair bit of power through the axle, and given my mounting positions on my chassis (I'd like to avoid serious chassis modifications as I don't want to go through the IVA) what options are best for me? Thanks in advance.

  8. Hi all im after some standard rear spring shackles for series 2 mk2 cortina. Thanks Steve
  9. 1979 Cortina Mk4 2.0 Ghia Estate MOT until 25th October 2014 Now Taxed until 30th October 2014 Only 3 previous owners 4 speed manual Jupiter Red over Strato Silver, Cream interior and vinyl roof Very original overall condition Original Radio Mileage very low for the age at 52,000 (will change as this is my daily) Ziebart rustproofed from new - never welded - doesnt need any welding - solid underneath. At the recent MOT the tester was amazed how solid everything was but he did add one advisory for slight corrosion (nearside front chassis rail) but this was very very minor Everything electrical works. Interior in great condition Headlining mint Vinyl roof mint Runs great and very comfortable (the car and I have done several several hundred mile journeys with ease – even going on the Classic Ford tour to France last year which was about 650 miles over the weekend) Has had the following done in the last year ish: All rear suspension bushes changed for new Polybushes New rear springs New rear shocks New brake cylinders & shoes New front suspension top & bottom bushes New rollbar drop links 1 new brake caliper New brake master cylinder. Replacement refurbished 32/36 Webber carb New alternator New coil Refurbished (improved over standard black) Bosch Distributer New points and coil New NGK plugs. New Leads Oil/Air/Fuel filters changed. Classic 20/50 oil used. New performance air filter New antifreeze. New wipers all round. New battery. Only things that let it down is the paint (Laquer peel has spoiled the finish, rattle can laquer and kurust applied to stop the weather getting at it) & the bumper chrome isnt brilliant. I had a few issue with the carb but all sorted now (replacement fitted). Pulls very slightly to the left (meant to buy front Polybush set but haven’t got round to it) and lets a bit of rain in when it’s bad weather (passenger footwell) Not too bad at all for a 34 year old Alloys fitted in pics on (Capri 6j X 13 with 185/70 tyres) are going on my next car but I could be persuaded to leave them on at extra cost It’s up for sale on it’s original steels (with the chrome embellishers) I would have taken pics with those on but I got a rare moment of sunshine so we rushed out to take some photos in the park! I’ll be taking the modern head unit out and replacing the original radio too It’s been a pleasure to own this car for the last year and a bit, I’d be keeping hold of it but the wife must be obeyed (she wants a Sierra so all is not lost!) but it’s up for sale It's in South London Offers around £1500 ono I have put another 6 months tax on it taking it up to end of October (like the MOT) Will keep the asking price at 1500 though

  11. Hi, I've recently brought my Mk2 Cortina (1300 Deluxe) out from 20 years of hibernation. It's as original as can be, with only a single lady owner before me. However, as most of you are aware, the rubbers and seals don't last forever and I'm in the process of making everything water, oil and air tight again. I'm hoping to learn and share as the process continues. Cheers, Pete
  12. My Mk1GT will have 2 litre Zetec on GSXR throttle bodies and some head work, through a type 9 gearbox and shortened Capri 2.8 Atlas LSD axle. After reading many articles, I have compiled my suspension shopping list. At the front I intend to use: 2.8 Billie coilovers Eccentric mounts to improve camber Escort Mk2 crossmember and rack Rack extensions Adjustable TCAs Escort RS2000 Mk2 anti roll bar. Escort RS2000 Anti Dive Kit Corsa B power steering column At the rear I intend to use: Capri 2.8 LSD axle, shortened to Cortina length, Cortina brackets and with 3.44 CWP Capri single leaf springs (will these fit?) Cortina GT standard anti tramp bars Panhard rod Lotus steel wheels Maybe Capri rear axle location bars ? Does this look a practical mix and will it all fit together ? All constructive inputs welcome before I spend all of my pocket money.
