PLASTIC FORD show at santa Pod...

Recommended Posts

No seats on my stand except the ones you sit in! i accept that some poeple may have cars off the road and turn up in plastic instead and i got no probs with that in itself but im talking about ENTIRE stands full of plastic..i mean WTF is that all about? theres ford fair and max power show for all that, you got silverstone, trax and ultimate street car and all of that...

As far as im concerned CF show is a stonesthrow away from turning into chav tuned up car show...and we all know what a melle they end up being!

The first and second year i thought CF show was brilliant, but deep down i knew it wouldnt be too long before it was swamped by plastic.

Oh, and if you want to see a cheek how about taking a look on Alcoholics Anonymous, pic of a rat look mk1 fez (red with the wheels on the roof) and hes Laughing his arse off... erm ...maybe he needs educating, thats a classic ford and your at a classic ford show, if you dont like it find another show thats got lots of shiny plastic!!!

jeez, its enough to make you shit!

I hate coming on this website due to the fact that there are so many people on here that moan about a good turn out at a show, which just happens to be the biggest show of the year.

I hate to say this, but if you hate coming on here, can you tell me why you do?

so i take it oldskoolford wont be at ford fair  result  there are loads of clubs with mk1/2 escorts, cortina's, anglia's, consul's etc that will be there, just not narrow minded like some of you

i dont dislike the stuff you like, just im more open minded about the fords i like to see kept on the road.

I don't know if OSF are going to Ford Fair or not, but TBH from what I am hearing I won't be. I am not very fond of plastic, so don't want to look at it, least of all pay for the priveledge. I don't think new cars should have been a Classic Ford, the clue's in the name CLASSIC Ford, not every ford...

Ford fair used to be a cracking show. I thought one of the best ones was at Belclare Castle, somewhere south of Oxford if I remember right. Was back in the late 90's i think. There was no track action, just a rally stage. Bloody good show it was though.

Not been for the last 2 or 3 years..

Maybe if there was less plastic there I would not have had to queue up for 2 hours to get out the show.

Our stand was in the far corner in the middle of the plastic pig farm

I followed a 2007 Mondeo out the carpark and just thought why are you here....my everyday car is older than that.

Its all getting a bit 'touchy' and 'narky' .... calm down, we're all suposed be singing from the same hymn sheet arnt we ... we all like Old Fords

Maybe if there was less plastic there I would not have had to queue up for 2 hours to get out the show.

Which means the show was profitable ... hence there will be one next year.

The thing is ..you cant exclude clubs, like the RSOC .. they are invited, so their members go, and those members are proud of their cars, be that an Rs1600 or a RS Focus .....

THE BIGGEST DIFFERENCE

You wont see the Mondeo and Focus owners moaning about a load of OSF's at a newer ford show like Ford Fair, you'll get them drooling and patting you on the back for having a great car, normally with words of ...

"I'd love to have one of those "

Not

"why dont you f**k off to the CF show "

So, come on, calm down, at the end of the day, we all like Fords, and we should all like each other, to me, this argument is like the 4dr/2dr debate.

Then I shouldn't of been there coz I have a 2009 everyday car and no OSF at present - I also queued for ages to get out but that IMHO was down to poor marshalling, not plastic cars.

This club/site is going to get a bad name pretty soon with shit thats happening and the attitudes thats being shown and we wont get invited anywhere any more really King bugs me how much hard work people put in to running it just for the usual people to fook it up for us people who are real car enthusiasts.

So keep certain opinions to one self please before to much damage is done to the site/scene

This is a discussion that I see come up each year and probably needs to have a line drawn under it soon. So to summarise my opinions:

1. Yes I would prefer it if the show was just classic fords

2. Yes I include all the 80's Sieras & wedge Fords under that description

3. No I don't think it's really that appropriate to have stands that include Mondeos, Cougars, Kas and Focus's

4. But even though I don't think it's appropriate it doesn't really bother me that they are there as no one forces me to look at them.

5. The show is ultimately a profit making vehicle for the magazine (nothing wrong with that) so more cars on the site = more paying visitors and a busy show always feels better than an empty one.

So let's just enjoy what we have and make the best of the stuff we like ignoring the stuff we don't eh? I'm sure the owners of said non classic fords (see above) are very proud of their cars and just because I like different things to them doesn't make their chosen steed a bad ride.

At last, someone with a bit of common sense. Im one of them who has a MK5 XRIIIi and have had MK3 XRIII’s and 16i’s but I also had MK2 & MK4 Cortina’s , MK1 & 3 Capri’s and a Pop. When I go to a show I love to look at the oldskool stuff as im into them big style, but I also like to look at the Cosworths and S1 turbos, RS16i as well as the XR range. No im not going to waste my time looking at something that has just drove through the sticky on dept of halfords but to some of them young lads theirs is the best car in the world. Im here for Fords, up to around 93, after that it has to be something special to catch my eye but i would not have a go at the owner, i just would not look.

i think vista has it spot on, i wasnt in any way interested in any of the focus, mondeos, kas etc etc so i stayed away, to be honest tho the cf organisers/marshalls should have given us a much better area and stuffed some of the plastic in the corner.

however if it means i can have as good a time next year due to the revenue then let them in its no hardship to me to avoid/laugh at them!

threads about cf show should be about how much we enjoyed the show and what cars we were impressed by, plus who made an ass of themselves when pissed up

Actually I think the marshalls intentions were honourable, they put us in a spot that everyone needed to walk through to get to or from the cafe, the food stands, the autojumble etc thus ensuring maximum visibility for the stand. The space problem was largely caused because the stand wasn't big enough as some of the drag teams that had been there since Friday refused to move. I for one was grateful for the assistance of the marshalls and security with one particularly obnoxious gentleman who decided to block access to the stand because he felt we shouldn't be in his "pit area"

To say we won't be invited anywhere again is a bit extreme, at the end of the day as already said CF Show is a business venture (and I agree nothing wrong with that), so unless there was a problem like fighting or speeding it's highly unlikely OSF would be ever be banned.

Bear in mind though, the public can come in what they like, so there will always be parking available for any club member that doesn't fit the brief of showing a Classic Ford. For this reason, no club member would be excluded. When all is said and done, CF would be daft to exclude any paying customer, either public or club member.

When all is said and done, it's a Classic Ford show, so why would there be any objection if late cars would be excluded from showing? Would any of us insist in having a stand at a Classic Vauxhall Show?

Flippin heck ... it's all getting a bit heated in here

First and foremost ... it is CLASSIC FORD SHOW ... the show organised by CLASSIC FORD MAGAZINE and NOT OSF. If you wish to complain strongly on the choice of cars at the show - please contact CLASSIC FORD MAG direct. This thread was meant to contain polite opinions!

Secondly, everyone's opinions are valid .. we try to let everyone voice their opinion as long as it does not become OFFENSIVE which, frankly, some of them have been

Thirdly, on OSF we have made our own decisions on what we class as Old Skool - those decisions were made 5 years ago by the founder members of OSF. If you are offended by the swear filter changing the names of newer cars or wish to argue why something is or is not Old Skool then perhaps this is not the forum for you.

Finally, we will not please everyone and nor will CLASSIC FORD MAG or any of the other mags be it VW World, Mini World, Land Rover World or whatever else is out there but please remember that the forums ARE NOT the mags and we cannot change any decisions that are made by the mags.

If OSF does not provide you with the content that you want then perhaps it is not for you. We try hard to keep as many people happy as we can and to offer fellow enthusiasts the opportunity to be on our club stand at some of the major shows but WE WILL NOT APOLOGISE for the format of this forum.

And to answer another question, YES WE WILL HAVE A BIG CLUB STAND AT FORD FAIR BECAUSE IT IS OUR DUTY TO KEEP THE OLD SKOOL ALIVE and I am sure that we will not be the only club with Old Skool Motors in attendance :ykt: . We are NOT the only Old Skool Club around, there are numerous other Old Skool based clubs that are on the net and we all offer slightly different things to different people.

We (OSF) are quite successful but we work hard at trying to offer the majority of people what they want which is a forum to voice opinions and share ideas and by holding club meets and attending shows and what we do seems to work for most

blimey... what and angry thread... i didn't go so can't judge, but there has to be some plastic, not EVERYONE who goes/appreciates old motors can afford to bring their classic or even has one, so who cares...

more people = more appreciation for your cars

and well said JO! :thumbsup::ykt:

the problem with a classic is eveyone has the own idea of what they class as classic, osf have a ruling about what it see`s as aloud in but osf are not the organisers of the show its the magazine so its their call

putting an age cut of will see plastics getting in to the show, have a cut off date so they cant get in the show means that alot of osf members wont be ableto get in as well, myself being one, as the cut of date wil over lap with different models.

even if you put a production start date limit in to action its not going to work as your going to get plastic escort and plastic fiesta`s and even mk3 granada`s etc so there is a no win situation

people have dragged the ff issue up again i went last year and was disappionted by the amount of modern stuff, but it was a ford show so there was going to be modern stuff, i found the food crap and coffee naff and for those reasons i wont be going again

so really if you dont like something dont go again and then you wont have anything to complain about,

yes there was a lot of plastic at the cf show and yes the osf was in a real iffy place but i will be going next year as there was alot more to see than just plastic

this site has developed a extremely narrow minded view of the old ford scene, fair enough old skool means no plastic stuff, but why are mk1 fiesta's allowed and not not in here mate lol's, both are equally shit and wrong wheels drive

i have cancelled my subscription to this site, as im tired of the unwritten rules regarding the cars, the paint, the engine and the type of wheels that are acceptable in this so called "oldskool" click . i think through narrow mindedness and a certain snobbery, the site will become boring and repetative. and will/is getting a bad name for itself in the classic ford scene.

this was and still is an impressive site with loads of good info and tech stuff, but the snobbery that has built up around the scene is ruining it for a lot of user's

:ykt:

please wake up and realise that the ford scene goes far further afield than oldskoolford and southlondon.

and if you dont like a car or modification, dont say anything, just ignore it.

i would have to disagree and say that as far as forums go, this is one of the most accepting and helpful i use... and i think people ARE accepting of different stuff? people aren't so anal on here either about using the search function, or other 'forum' rules, which i like!

it's not like in the vw polo forum i use for my shit box, they all diss you if you don't have the car decked and with pokey stretch wheels!

and i also think saying you dislike something is good, so long as it's constructive criticism...

but this aint on topic! :P

Guest robj20

well i had a great time at the show, nearly all the cars i like, the way i see things, if the car is no longer made and its getting on a bit then its a classic.
