Does anyone have any knowledge on Volvo T5's? Particuarly the V70.

Im contemplating putting my name on the log book of one and want to do some research before I spend all my money on a rocket powered brick!

I had one a few years ago ,an ex-police one ,very reliable ,auto was heavy on the old juice ,had a 02 manual as well ,manual was faster and better on economy

They do , eat front tyres and brakes ,cost a lot to run and maintain ,tax is expensive if its a post 01 car

good points ; they are very safe and a nice drive

rocket powered brick!

That just about says it

Bloody rapid, my mate had one. Had to change the steering rack but I think it was pretty much trouble free apart from that

Theres a company called RICA. For £575 they will remap the ECU to boost the bhp from 240 to 310...thats before you touch anything else on the car! Running stock induction and exhausts!!!

Id be looking at a early shape V70. Cant afford a post 2001 model....or a T5R

Kev I know what you mean and I love my RWD 240 estate but I just fancy something turbo and biblically fast yet safe.....plus Ive got the escort for RWD shenanigans.

Remember Antz - you can only go as fast as the person in front of you.

unless they drive a corsa then you can legally bump them out of your way

Stick with the 240 - spend 575 on that mate - would be a frikkin animal

I miss our old volvo ....

In a T5 everyone thinks you are the police and moves out the way!

Im bored of my 240. Its only the GL with the baby 2.0 and to put a 2.3 turbo from a 940 in is a lot of hassle and a load of work.

I just fancy a change and always liked the T5's. Plus I want the full leather interior, wooden dash trim, spoilers, and a turbo

I think the standard 240bhp with maybe an induction kit and a tap of the lowering stick will do me for a few months....never owned a FWD car before and I think buying a T5 then whacking 310bhp trhough the front wheels would kill me instantly

Get used to the 240bhp before I get the 310bhp upgrade

I dont want to sell it to someone who will trash it or banger it. its a good solid car and has many years of service left in it. the only thing that lets it down is the paintwork which is scratched and faded. The rest of the car is perfect and even has spax 40mm lowering springs on

Hmmm do I know anything about T5's?

Awesome car, lift off over steer, chuck it in a corner at a speed that would normally kill most cars and it sticks like shite to a blanket, built like a tank, reliable and yes a lot of people will get out ya way. The old ones are the best, quicker then the newer models

Down side is fuel economy, expect somewhere in the region of 18mpg if ya heavy on the right foot, plus needing new tyres regular. Comfy as feck though!
