Herr Doktor
mines great mate! can rest easy too, im STILL on the first credit i put on it and still got some left, seriously worthwhile best insurance i ever bought , no kdding anyone touches the escort i know straigt away! mike Clearly with a mobile phone, I pay for minutes and SMS messages. I make a call, I use up a portion of my allowance. The same with SMS texts I send Taken from your OG thread "Pay As You Go – Avoid excessive monthly contracts. Just buy top-up credits from us when you need." Combined with reading the information http://www.savvitrak.co.uk/?page_id=2 [2500 "positions" for £30] How does the "Pay as you go" element work with a car GPS Tracker? What constitutes a "position"? My car will spend 60 to 70% of its time in a locked garage
Savvi
Each time the unit reports back to the satellite counts as a position credit, it uses one to wake up and one to shut down then you can set the others from 3 secs upto 2 hours. It will not use up credits whilst sat in "sleep" mode where the car is parked up and not touched. This is where we win over the set monthly fess, although the guy I buy from is moaning a little about how little these are used, as he can make any money out of them !!! Herr Doktor
OK. I'm in. I'm going to "edge my bets" though. I'll get one of these and the Tracker that has VHF. What do you need from me?
Savvi
Ok guys and Girls I need 15 solid buyers then I can offer the Tracker with mains charger, 12v car charge lead & the recorded delivery postage at a reduced price of .............. £184 all in. Before I take orders I need to pass on a message from my supplier ............. these units run on a data sim card, due to the network operator they need to been seen to be used at least once a month, similar to mobile phones otherwise the sim will be switched off and the tracker will no longer work !!! All it takes is for the tracker to be moved up the road a couple of miles enough time for it to send a signal, if this isn't done a new sim and setup will be needed, because this has proved to be common occurrence they will now be charging for reactivating and the new sims. So with that out of the way im taking firm orders of £184 all in via Paypal to colinrowe@excite.com once I have the funds for all 15 units I will order and have them out to you asap. I will need your full address name (including paypal name if different) and a contact number for where you wish the units to be sent ( ideally in the paypal "note to seller" ) ......... I know this seem obvious but last time this never happened in some cases Obviously some people pay quicker then others so I will post on here so everyone knows when I order and when I send out ......... I know some don't want to post on here so just send me a Pm. Thanks Colin

Craig89
can you not jus ake the tracker out, take it with you for a trip to the shops in normal car then put it back? That is the only way around it but that would mean it having to be fairly accessible but I would want to bury it somewhere inaccessible

mk2 mike
Plus, am I correct on thinkng if you do this it'll use some of your 'credit' and therefore you end up paying when the car is off the road not in use? Plus they charge if you don't use the sim? Hmmmm
Savvi
Yes you can take the unit out and drive it up the road as I do with mine over Winter, if the car is parked with no power going to the unit it will last about 1 month on its own battery so it needs to be charged or topped up in some way, even if you have the power lead connected and run the car up for 10 mins or so. Mike yes you will use a few credits which will cost you about 10p or so im guessing ? As for charging its purely because these units get put away and not touched then people expect it all to be restored free of charge just because they haven't used them ....... I have about 30 of these units out there at present and in the last year ive had to send replacement sims and deal with dead units because they haven't been touched or used, one on going wasn't used in over a year, this isn't the companies fault so why should they have to pay to get it put back on the network again ? They use roaming sim cards so if theres a weak signal say on Voda it swaps to o2 etc. this is all done to give the best coverage, but as a result the network specifies the sim has to be kept active, im guessing if you send it a txt message or a "locate" message it will do the same thing but I will ask and confirm. As I said before these are very similar to your mobile phone, if you stick it in the drawer and don't use it then it goes dead and in some cases the sim is turned off ............ this is basically the same thing, no one is hiding anything, im just stating it from experience of the units ive sold in the past.
katana
That's a bit more helpful as if I put a unit in the car, I don't want it easily found or worst - easily removed! If the SIM can be removed with the unit mounted then I guess it could be put in a phone as send out a text? But if not, then if the owner can text IT to keep it active it and get a locate text back it would be a damn sight easier - that would work for me again. Please confirm either way?
Craig89
Keeping it active via a message or call would be an ideal solution really. Could be interested
