the gold as recieved was not its original colour either, its original colour was copper, not a lot different i grant you, but they registered the colour change, i spent a lot of hours deliberating it, but it came a lot down to the following, i couldnt replicate the tan interior 40 years later, and then everyone i spoke to said "Brown?? really") so i opted for the blue, that is Miami blue and a proper 1300E colour, its also the colour of the one i had when i was 19

glad you like it, thank you, the idea is to be as close to production line as possible with a few better bits like the paint

i was very very very lucky with the purple one

Car does indeed looking stunning, you're making a very thorough job of it!

Agree with you on the off the Shelf Vinyl roof kits, I bought one for a GXL capri in about 1994 (don't remember who from) and it was rubbish. I chucked it away and had a trimmers make one from scratch.

You are very well informed on the 1300e, do you know why they retained the oblong lights to the end when all other mk1 Escorts had ditched them in favour of round ones?

because ford policy at the time was that all their more up market vehicles should have oblong lights, a status symbol if you like, however becase the light is not as efficient as the round ones, round ones were fitted to anything that was remotely related to rallying or alike, i may be wrong but i think the early Twin Cam had oblong but soon went over to round

the oblong lamps truly are rubbish for light output aren't they lol. when I replaced the front panel on mine I nearly converted it to round headlights but now I am glad I didn't,lots of people have done so over the years though.
