Lol, I always used to see it parked opposite Eccles newsagents on Ash Rd so assume he was a friend of Tony Eccles who had an Rs Mk1 Escort in yellow with orange stripes

That red Capri was nothing to do with Tony. Must admit, it doesnt ring any bells with me either - luckily....

Found a "nicely" modified Anglia so the 105e lovers don't feel left out

Can anyone work out what look he/she was going for with this?

Looking through these pages its nice to know that extreme bad taste is not some local anomaly.

Tastes are different the world over. It seems that large diameter modern looking wheels are popular in Australia and Malta for instance but over here, few would consider them for a classic Ford.

Yes bigger wheels are popular here with a lot of old ford owners. We have a weird tyre seller arrangement in that they dont like you to pick your own tyres they just want customers who walk in and accept whatever tyres they determine you should have. In other words  basically what they have in stock, they often wont even discuss options and just walk off while your still standing there, They get snippy when you say you want something else. Basically they wont keep anything in 13in apart from some Chinese brand you havent even heard of. They even lie and claim nothing else is available even though you know otherwise. I put them to the test once and more than half tried to get me to fit bigger wheels before they would sell me tyres. Whenever I go tyre shopping I always come home very annoyed and without tyres. In the UK you are more lucky on tyres than you realise.

Early 80's Ill guess.. Think its taken at Santapod or at some dragrace event

Yep, it's Santa Pod. The car was built as a promo car for Euro Exhausts before they were bought out by Kwik Fit and it used to be hearing aid beige. Liam Churchill was a manager for them and raced a Mk2 Capri bodied funny car named Euro Sting. It was featured in Custom Car magazine around '77.

Oh dear! With some of the 70's custom scene I can kind of see why it was popular even if I don't like it much now......But WTF is an oil drum size/shape hole in the front and a couple of industrial vent outlets on the back all about?

I guess it got people's attention?!

That car has nothing to do with design.

Citroën Centipede was a Michelin tire test car for truck tyres ( 11th tire running in the centre of the modifiet DS ).

In 1972, Michelin needed a way of testing its truck tyres at high speed, but was worried about the danger involved with big-rig blowouts. The answer was this massively modified Citroen DS.
