Recommended Posts

It's a sad day for my friend who has had his Mk1 Escort bubble arch stolen from a lock up in lingfield surrey friday night 12/06/15, He is offering a £5000 CASH REWARD!! for its safe return.. this car has not been on the road for 20+years it had 4 flat tyres no carbs and covered in dust, its white with a lotus twin cam fitted. the reg number is XPO 11L  The car has tremendous sentimental value due to a death in the family hence the high reward.. This car has many identifying features due to all the work done over the years so it would be recognisable always!!!!, Any info please call him directly ..Paul 07885201010 or pm me if easier... Thanks in advance for any assistance and please spread the word, :-) :-) :-)

Not another one. Gutted for your mate and I really hope he finds his car. But, Just to let you know, putting the words 'no questions asked' in a reward offered advert is an offence!! (section 23 theft act 1968) and I personally know someone who was prosecuted under it. They got fined £400 trying to get their dog back in an ad in a shop window.

I Just don't want any salt to be rubbed into the wound by anyone getting a fine for trying to get their car back!

Shockingly Ridiculous law I know, and personally I think it's a nonsense. I only found out about it recently myself! I believe it's trying to stop people from stealing things solely with the intention of waiting till the owner offers a cash reward, then saying 'I know where the car is, where's my reward' etc.

you Just never know who this gets shared with on social media etc.

Not trying to be awkward or funny mate, just trying to give you (and your mate) the heads up.

Really hope the car comes back though. Quite a few recently have been recovered so fingers crossed for him. Not sure if you're on Retards Club but I'll stick it on there for you too. (Albeit a slightly amended version).

Thieving scumbags I hope the police catch whoever took it.good idea the reward but as mike says its an offence so just be careful as it could backfire on the owner.

Fingers crossed it gets found before it gets stripped or made to look like another model

No probs mate I wasn't trying to be an ass, just hoping to avoid (admittedly a tiny chance) of any grief.

White bubble arched mk1 Escort registration XPO11L was stolen from secure storage in the Lingfield area of Surrey on Saturday 13th June 2015.

The car has been hidden away for the past 20 years. The owner built the car with his brother who tragically died, the owner vowing never to sell the car.

The car is fitted with bubble arches, quarter bumpers, 2x Cibie Super Oscar spotlamps with IODE covers, strut brace, rollcage, bonnet pins, bucket seats & is powered by a Lotus Twin Cam engine.
The battery is located in the boot & the spare wheel is mounted to the boot floor. The fuse box is mounted on the nearside inner wing just forward of the strut top. There is also a Lotus badge on the rear panel of the car.
There is a £5000 reward for anyone who has information on the recovery of this car.

That is great news it is back, real shame it was started to be stripped. Hope that all the parts are still there to go with the car.

What kind of punishment would the person(s) get?  Handling stolen goods?

Just googled this:

Handling stolen goods is an either way offence, which means it can be dealt with by either the Magistrates Court or the Crown Court. The maximum sentence in the Magistrates Court is 6 months imprisonment, and the Crown Court can impose up to 14 years custody.

Hope they go to the Crown Court then....

That's great news about the recovery,it makes a change the police giving something back to the motorist As for punishment G cramps on all fingers sounds good to me then when fully squashed weld clamps to bench and leave for 24hrs to simmer. By the way I've just bought a new welder and need some practise
