Indeed, £10k tooling costs up front and minimum order of 800 units on top of that.

There goes that quiz question 🤦🏻‍♂️

Not a fair question if it's impossible to know the answer.

I had this problem a few years ago now-the only square lights i could get at the time-funnily enough-were only available in Aus. I did a post on here to see if anyone else wanted some and ended up buying 6 sets. Kept one set and the guys on here had the rest-can't remember the price now think it was around £100 a pair-can't remember the seller either unfortunately. Haven't seen them advertised since-maybe there's still some over there stashed away or someone who knows who made them-they weren't sealed beam type either but H4 bulb type-pretty good find at the time.

Yes there were after market square headlights widely available here at one point. Mainly because none f our cars ever had round headlights all were square. So when Ford stopped selling Lucas ones the panel shops had access to alternate ones probably Taiwanese but they were of good quality. As Mk1 repairs faded the stocks of the lights was reduced and now you only get pockets of them just as you described. I haven't seen any for a while though but I may invest in some if I do find any on behalf of the forum in case they are needed. Our original Hella lights were H4s hence the aftermarket ones were too. The ones in Finland are original Hella H4 ones so it would be great to acquire them if I can. The seller hasn't responded to my email so they may be scared off by the distance or the ad is very old as there doesn't appear to be a date with it. I didn't think I would ever get a set of originals in such good condition ever so Im excited if I can make it happen.
