Rare, Unique or Prototypes

Rally Pack 2000

Recommended Posts

In an earlier thread I posted some images of a Prototype fastback Mk1 Cortina Prototype which sparked a bit of interest so I thought I would open a thread to talk about and post images of rare and unique OSF model and Prototypes like 4 Door Mexicos and Twincams, RS2000 Estates or even overseas models that aren't usually found in Europe or the UK. Please add to the thread if you have come across something interesting or any curiosity.

I will start off with something for Col

Funny they are both in Trailers though.

how about an automatic mk2 rs2000?

Automatic transmission was an option for Australian RS2000s. I dont think I have an image stored of the interior anywhere though.

This 2Lt Ghia used the same automatic centre console as the RS2000 did however so that will give you an idea what it looked like. Just without the woodgrain dash.

But in a way a 2.0Lt Ghia qualifies as a unique car in its own right to those in the UK. (Note the wing badges)

Repost of the Mk1 Cortina Fastback Images for this thread. Four Prototypes made in Victoria Australia for consideration. Its design shows its links being similar to the Anglias above, confirming Cols reference to its Australian origins.

Out of the four Prototypes made only one was a four door with images documenting it quite well. Images of the two door versions are a little rarer. Here however is one from the rear. (Not convinced by the additional rear spoiler though)

A family member of mine worked on the development of this project at Laycocks Engineering (of overdrive gearboxes fame). Unfortunately I don't know much more about it as the family member now lives overseas.

The Estate looks like a Scimitar?, the Ute just looks hideous!, and the owner of the 4x4 is a pussy - too rare to drive - what b0**ux!

I have heard of a Scimitar so that may be correct. I quite like it so would love to hear more if anyone knows anything about it.
