The only good things on that are the back lights and what’s under the bonnet😉

What's under the bonnet is minging and having been owned and raced by two race drivers, the ends are likely hanging out! Doesn't look like a huge recommissioning job to get the car usable - as one of two, got to be worth it!

allardette or a conversion?

The Allardettes I have seen were mainly engine mods rather than full coupe conversions. These ones instead were Australian built cars commissioned by the factory by a local coach builder for racing. They also did some Mk1 Cortinas (Pictured Earlier) but neither was ever put into production. It does seem to be the inspiration or inspired by a few British racing teams of the period that some referred to as the Bread Van Racing Anglias.

Interesting are the Alloy Wheels used on our Mk2 Escort / Mk4 Cortina Ghias were so referred to as "Ghia Wheels" simply because they came off those cars but they appear to have been literally designed by Ghia themselves seen here on their Altair Prototype.

https://classiccars.fandom.com/wiki/Ford_Granada_Altair So being 'designed' in 1980, Ford would have been using those wheels for a while and Ghia just 'went with the flow' - why redesign the wheel so to speak?
