Im not going to post the auction end total. Thats the most ridiculous thing I have seen for two tiny bits of secondhand plastic. I was thinking of selling two brand new Ford Mk2 RS Mexico Badges in their packaging for less than those things sold for.

what mexico badges do you have?

If you need to know the price you can't afford them....lol

You need you know how much to raise your credit limit by.

Escorts are rich mans toys now and well out of my league. Its no wonder we don't get many new younger members here, the buy in is just too high. I could not afford to buy either of my cars now.  Without Anglia58 bailing me out all the time on things you just cant find here, jobs on my car would never get completed. I can lock my boot now which I wasn't able to do for years. I still haven't got back into the habit of carrying a spare tyre in there yet.

hi folks, the update, i got the second right one for colr6 just tonight, for rallypack2000 i got them aswell, i will put the stuff together tomorrow, and get it posted, colr6 will have it this week, rallypack2000 will take a bit longer, he just lives to far away, cheers marcel

What a really generous thing for you to do given these things are worth their weight in gold. ( Literally! That's not even a figure of speech in this case!). Such a long journey, what if word gets out they are in transit? It will be like the Italian Job with Escorts driving through drain pipes instead of minis. I would love to know what you have on your "wish list" but its a big secret. I will hear about it one day and hopefully be able to send parts the opposite way!

For a couple of plastic bits? People are mad

Its insane! What if they were metal or a unique RS part? The sky's the limit!

Mk2 Escort owner - "Hello Police, My old Ford Escort has been broken into!"

Police - "Did they steal your stereo and mobile phone?"

Mk2 Escort Owner - "No they just dumped the phone on the floor and nicked the tray it was sitting on" "Oh they drained a full tank of V Power too"

Police - "Grand larceny then. May need to claim it on insurance, the excess is going to bite"

Just a set of Black 1.6 Wing badges. If scratched up secondhand bits of plastic fetch 63 pounds then Im going to save them to retire on!

They are metal. I didn't even know there were plastic wing badges. Is there a difference between Mk2 1.6 Capri and Escort badges?

I bought them here in Australia which is odd because we never had any car that took black 1.6 wing badges. We didn't get Mk2 Mexicos or Capris here so our 1.6 Mk2 Escorts were all Kent engined  with chrome badges. If they had been regular chrome I probably wouldn't have bought them. Are you doing up a Mk2 Mexico?

yeah ive got mex in bits that ive slowly been doing up, was complete when i bought it. but bodged and welded up badly so bare shelled now, think the only original part left will be the rear quarters and window pillars.

I do love Mk2 Mexicos. There don't seem to me many here on the forum. Mine is as close as we ever got to Mexicos just with 2Lt engines instead and uglier stripes.

I was just looking at the prices of badges and you can see the RS tax at work here

One New 1.3 Badge is 30 pounds so lets say 60 pounds for a pair

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NOS-OEM-FORD-ESCORT-Mk2-TAUNUS-CORTINA-Mk3-1300-GL-1-3-Name-Plate-BADGE-EMBLEM/253985903701?hash=item3b22bd5455:g:aVIAAOSw-L5bvcdV:rk:43:pf:0

Yet a pair for an RS2000 is 185 pounds.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-New-NOS-Ford-Escort-MK2-RS2000-2-0-Wing-Badges/323531197296?hash=item4b53f64b70:g:CIEAAOSwM99aq72A:rk:5:pf:0

I didn't think the RS ones were meant to be black as well so these are more likely Cortina or Capri.

actually ive ive just read your messages again. no the mexico badges are indeed chrome and not black. the rs2000 badges were black! dont suppose you have chrome 16 badges? the rs 2000s had black handles, roof gutters and window rubbers, black mirrors and bumpers. the mexico had black bumpers, all the other trim parts inc handles and badges were chrome.  genuine mexicos are rare over here too as they only made about 1500. cant remember the exact figure off the top of my head.

I was of the understanding that you could get both chrome and black door handled Mexicos with matching badges with others not having any wing badges at all. With Chrome 1.6 badges being used on other Escorts well you can get them quite easily and inexpensive too for original new ones. I see them all the time. The black ones I dont see here at all.

PS There is a place local that makes new Chrome replicas heavier quality than originals for under 40 quid for the pair.

My Mk2 RS doesn't have any wing badges. I'm not 100% sure, but it might have only been the Broadstipe that had the black 2.0 badge.

I also had a red T reg RS and that didnt have wing badges either.

Same with our Rally Packs as well. The early ones have 2.0 wing badges but later ones like mine didnt have any.

Up to 77 Mexico and broad stripe will have badges on the side before change over to custom and non custom

so if you have FORD grille on a mex you should have 1.6 side badge F.O.R.D On the boot lid and MEXICO on the RIGHT

78 ON round ford grill, no side badges, round ford badge on bootlid on right, and MEXICO on left after Escort badge

sports didn’t as they have 1300/1600 sport on the rear quarters just the 1.6 on the rear

MK2 Mexico being brought up to a show in North Wales (RS Owners club show or something) in 2016 on a service station on the M5.

Car had come from PORT ISAAC, where the series Doc Martin is filmed.

Is a 1976 car, one owner, and I forgot the dealers name it came from, it is in the rear window.

Car had less than 4000 miles on it, but was not interested in parting with it, inside was as nice as my new modern car, if not better.

As can be seen on this one, 1.6 badge on wings in silver, silver door handles, silver boot lock, silver gutter moulding, the wiper arms were silver as well, the only thing not silver was the door mirrors, they are both black.

Boot lid had "ESCORT" in silver on L.H.S, and MEXICO on R.H.S.

Would love to have seen it running, would have been as tight as a drum.

Inside was strange though, no clock, no radio, no glove box, but it had a roof aerial.

now thats how a mk2 mex should look, only thing missing there is the F.O.R.D boot script that the early car should be wearing. mine was the same, no clock, no radio, no center console or glovebox, but did have aeriel and a pair of shelves under the dash. without the plastic ends!

The Chrome handle Mk2 Mexicos are the ones I see in Ford's original sales information. Most you see these days however have been changed to black. I always thought there were simply two different version but I was just wondering were black handled Mexicos actually produced in the factory or is this a case of everyone changing them?

While we on about fiddly trim bits, might aswell throw this one in ! Vinyl roof trims ! Looking on the dreaded fleabay a pair came up and watched as you do, £100 yes £100 So looked into these and had a word with dt36 who's RS has a Vinyl roof to get some ideas on shape and profile. The pics dt36 sent me of his didn't match the pics I had, can't put the pics up off my phone cos I'm stupid that way. The pic below can anyone say if they are for a 2 or four door? Or more to the point has anyone got any spare at a reasonable price ? This could be something else to have 3D printed because they are painted satin black who would know they weren't metal ? dt36s trims don't have the raised peice that would fill the gap between trim and rear air vent. Why ?  2 or 4 door ? Ghia trims? Or aftermarket ? Your thoughts or knowledge
