Recommended Posts

Hi I have had two import 4 doors mk2 escort (small fuel tank) and both had like expanding foam in the arch and only on the tank side? Neither haven’t been mentally rotten just wondering if was a quality ford manoeuvre

hi, here in holland, the 4 doors all have the expanding foam in the wheel arch, but on both sides, it's the same with cars from belgium, it's don by ford, i don't know why they did that, maybe to make it stronger, when you need to fix the arch, you have to take it out, or it will started to burn when you are welding, cheers marcel

Maybe for strength. I have been told, but don't quote me on it, that even later on in RS Cosworth models, that Ford used expanding foam on certain parts of the shell to help strengthen certain areas?
