Four door to two door mk1 escort

Recommended Posts

Hi Andrew, love it so far. I am thinking of buying a 4 door and doing the conversion. Is roofline the same between the 2 models so only the 1/4, door and pillar need changing? I am new to Escorts so totally clueless on specifics but I am a qualified mechanic and competent welder so the actual work isn't daunting for me.

iva test will be a challenge though!

Playing devils advocate here - wouldn't it be easier to leave the B posts and just weld up the doors in and out then in theory no IVA required as the chassis is still as Ford supplied? Only give away is the shorter front doors. There can't be too many donor mk1's around to provide good B posts, rear quarters and doors that aren't 'swiss cheese' steel?

Not sure how this one was done, but it was a nice car looking over it.

This pic was taken at Combe, about 2 or 3 years ago. Car had a For Sale on the dash and I think the price was reasonable at the time.
