Rear five link setup

Recommended Posts

G`day all

I`m going to be fitting a five link arse end to my MKII in the near future.

I`m a fitter/welder by trade so no problems there but i was after any tips or tricks involved in making the job easier.

Cheers all

Troppo

Measure lots then measure again. Clamp the boxes in place then measure again. Did I say measure LOL! The boxes need to be square and parallel to axle as links should ideally be equal length not odd lengths to account for badly placed boxes.

There’s no quick way to do them, first you need to set axle at normal ride height. Car level both ways. All bars equal length before fitting. The brackets that go round the axle need to be chopped in half to go round the axle then weld back together unless they’ve been slid in the tubes if it’s an atlas. 4 link bars to be fitted level, so this dictates the height of your boxes before welding in. Centralise the axle and square up, I normally use the front spring mounting holes as datum points.
