ZETEC CONVERSION

Recommended Posts

Just completing zetec 2.0 conversion in my mk2, the rad cap is leaking, should I replace with a high pressure one? also have been told this conversion will require a header tank . Any advice would be helpful.

Not running a header tank in my mk1 escort with 1.8 zetec. Alloy RS rad. Done 2-3k with no issues....

No reason to run a header tank if using a traditional Escort rad. Modern cars tend to have smaller rads tucked away and so having a rad cap and filling the rad would be difficult, hence the move to header tanks! Rad cap should be 13lb pressure one - higher pressure allows higher temp before boiling but get a leak anywhere and it can be nasty.
