And should a standard 1978 mk2 escort ghia have two door mirrors. And secondly, should they have sound deadoning as standard under the floor carpet. Many thx Marcus. colr6 Posted October 15, 2019 Report Share Posted October 15, 2019 Carb should be 32/36 DGA manual choke or 32/36 DGAV auto choke. As for mirrors think two was an optional extra as most of the images I could find a definite answer wasn’t found, so that’s how I came up with this assumption. Sure on the Ghia carpets the soundproofing was attached to the carpet but not 100% on that one. Most cars of this era had hessian type sound proofing. The car was parked up with a front end bump on our camp and belonged to one of the NAFFI girls. Apparently, she was going to get it repaired and went ballistic when she finally got round to it. Marcus Posted October 15, 2019 Author Report Share Posted October 15, 2019 Thx guys, I have right carb then 👍🤓. I have done another timing check and mixture check tonight. I put the timing to 8 deg BTDC, with vacume pipe to dizzy disconnected and blocked off. She seems to have got the nice exhaust rasp note again. In regards to the sound deadening I have got some adhesive foam sheets online. I have got some recaro seats from a rover 800, I just need to fabricate some spacers to enable the seats to fit in the car. Really appreciate all the info guys 👍👌🤓😁. Very kind regards Marcus. Rally Pack 2000 Posted October 15, 2019 Report Share Posted October 15, 2019 Its interesting that everyone is quoting a 32/36 DGAV/DGV as the carburettor for a 1600 Sport Engine. All our Mk2 GT Spec 1600 Kent engines only ever used the 32 DGAV (32/32). The 32/36s were only used for Pinto engines. The specs apparently vary from country to country. Ive added a image from the manual it only lists a 32DGAV for Mk2 1600 GT engine. I would be curious to know what models received a 32/36 instead. Just checked my eBay account and it was actually called Dodomat. It's fairly weighty, but is very flexible and can be cut with a knife or scissors Definitely made a big difference to the interior noise levels when driving. I might lift my seats and carpet out this winter to see what's around my tunnel. If it's bare, then I'll probably use the same brand to cover that along its length. I would recommend this brand and I'd definitely buy it again. While it works I think the thicker regular Dynamat would be more suitable with its added thickness. colr6 Posted October 16, 2019 Report Share Posted October 16, 2019 I use dellorto carbs on my stuff, when I took for a rolling road set up the guy said he could more fine tune them over Weber’s. Apart from that they are usually cheaper than Weber’s which is a bonus. Vulcan have a very good reputation for head work, sure a few on here have had heads done by them and are very pleased with the results. My next head will be going to them.
