Please allow me to share with you some pics of my original standard escort Mk1 1300GT.....’Daisy’ I’ve owned her for 16 years, boy does time fly! (Sorry Daisy)
In the right light and not looking too closely she’s a beauty.....she does have holes in places I’m sure a car shouldn’t have holes and I’m no mechanic, can’t paint too good, weld or name a lot of the parts on a car - BUT I try and I will not be beaten,- ‘she is what she is’ so, here are some photos warts an all - cheers Huge

Never thought of it as rolling repairs that helps cheers! Here’s today’s little progress, clean breather then check oil set up, it’s non-ballast with 12v at coil now checking what ohm the coil is.

Hi the coil taken from the car has part No 711M 12029 AA and then 25 K 73 stamped on it does anyone know if it’s 1.5 or 3 ohm coil? Thanks

If you have a digital multimeter, set to ohms and measure between the two brass terminals. The number 25 K 73 might imply it was made in 1973! If so, its a survivor!

Any ideas please? I’m re-locating the Coil & found this Blue/Green stripe wire which comes out of the wiring loom with the +LT wire 😳 have used multimeter & there’s no voltage.

Hi Huge, green and blue wire could possibly be from oil pressure sender switch to instrument panel ??

Re my broken / unattached wire I’ve looked at the wiring diagram in Haynes - now got to find the Oil Pressure Switch on the car 👍

Fords use to cut the blue/green off at that point where it exits the loom  if you had the oil pressure gauge option on the Dash effectively making  the Oil pressure light/ switch  Redundant . So with your Gt and 6 dial dash you wont have the oil pressure light / switch on your car .

Ha Ha Ha - i've gone the other way. RS2 mk2 doesn't have a light because it has mechanical gauge but a light will get your attention quicker when scanning the dash, so i've energised the socket behind the RS logo for mine! I used to have a big amber mini indicator lamp on the dash of my Cooper 'S' that saved the engine a few times and you couldn't miss it LOL!

You can get fibreglass copy’s on eBay and occasionally a genuine one but pricey though

I have a fibreglass copy in my Mk2. When you put it side by side with the original, it's actually much better quality and has a nicer grain.
