Looks like I’ve got 2 choke cables!!! 🤨

without a doubt your correct, they've used a choke cable, and made a bracket on the pull end to suit the outer cable, modified the inner to suit a handle, other end theve made a bracket and put a helper spring in, although with the correct cable holders that should be needed, why, the mind boggles, but safe to say, your not fitting that new cable too easily

Can agree with this. Also had some suspicious staining on my rear seats, used this stuff and it came up good as new. Also bought an original steering wheel for mine on Ebay, description said it needed a restoration, all I did was clean it off with soapy water then use this stuff, the colour came right back after a few minutes.

Really glad I bought that new cable 🤬 I disconnected the helper spring & it does ....nothing!

1)Prop shaft has 5mm play (Is this normal? or excessive?)

2)Gear box x2 minor oil leaks (could be just gasket replacing? - easy to replace?

1) Depends on what they are describing as 'play'! Backlash in the diff gears could show up as play in prop but UJ's on the prop itself should have no play at all - measuring 5mm play in any of them sounds potentially dangerous / failure point and the knocking would sound horrendous! Or are they referring to the centre bearing - equally bad as I think the prop needs a rebuild to replace?

2) Output shaft seal is easy enough, and if its the speedo drive that's leaking? I ain't got a scooby on fixing that! Sorry!

Oil leaks, tail shaft No problem lever seal out and replace. Gasket between tailshaft housing requires the box out and partial strip. Unless it’s pissing out forget about it and keep checking the level. Prop centre bearing quite easy to do, you can buy a complete rubber and bearing for about £45. Strip the prop at centre via bolt 23 the yoke 16 is splined as in photo. The full carrier can be chiselled off at 20 may take some persuading to slide off. The rubber section can be forced out of the metal carrier. To assist in this there are  some bent over lugs on the metal carrier which hold the rubber once in these can be bent round to allow the rubber a bit easier passage out. These must be bent back once the new rubber and bearing is fitted. Recesses can be seen in the rubber when it’s out so you’ll know position wise when fitting it to line up. They do take some getting sometimes  so a bit of silicone spray will help. And as they say in theHaynes manuals To build is the reversal of this procedure...lol Not sure if the prop has a master spine on it so a mark on the splined part may be a good move prior to pulling it apart. Have FUN !
