psmk2 22
I have an issue with my interior light... it works when you flick the switch but won't work automatically when you open the doors....i recently bought new door switches off ebay thinking this would cure the problem but it hasn't... also found that the boot light doesn't work and I can't find the switch that operates that inside the boot... my fuses are fine as the light gets power.... ive ordered a 12v tester to test the wires going to the door switches.... has anyone else had issues with these
Pbsmk2 61
I’d start by checking the terminals in the light itself phil
katana 665
Its a simple circuit - if the light works via switch then its getting power so its either the door switches that aren't earthing correctly or dirty contacts in the light, Boot light is wired into the side light circuit so its on all the time the sidelights are on - no switch! psmk2 22
The boot light works perfect....in all the time I've had it i never realised that it came on with the sidelights.... what an odd way to wire it.... seems daft that if you park up and go into the boot yo get your stuff you then need to go back into the car to turn off the lights after you find what your looking for..... would it have killed them to put in a boot switch

Door switches were not even standard in all cars let alone boot switches. They were very basic cars. It was a pretty easy routine to leave you parking lights on before shutting the drivers door, going to the boot to get out what you wanted and then walking forward hitting the light lever to switch everything off before locking the car. Having had mine for 35 years, back when I got it you didn't give it a second thought. If anything the very primitive door switches would perish and leak that I remember leaving the light off most of the time only to switch in on manually when needed. The switches even got up Ford Australia's nose for unreliability so much so they switched owners to use a Falcon based one that was fully enclosed rather than two bits of exposed copper with a spring. You even had to drill a larger hole to fit them but they were much better than originals. (The Falcon ones Ford Spares sold me in the 80s are still there today!) With this in mind putting one of their crappy leaky switches in the water runnoff channel of the boot so that the lid could trigger it would have meant ponds in wheel wells for sure! 🥰
