Rally Pack 2000
Having tried a number of different LEDs and Halogens in all aspects of Escorts and as I have mentioned before my conclusion was the same as the quote from Nick Rawlinson that I found it best to search the highest quality halogen lights you could find. That doesn't preclude you however from using LED parking bulbs as they do a much better job than regular parking bulbs and don't blow when moisture collects in the lower light section. I suspect that this clarification is not so much which is better but rather covering all their bases as not all LED bulbs are the same. I have noticed that some LED bulbs are not omnidirectional. In some stoplight and indicator bulbs I tried when you bayoneted them in the LEDs pointed sideways. In the case of headlights the reflector is designed for a filament in one designated central spot. Some LEDs, especially the multi LED type would pitch the light all over the reflector that it wasn't designed for. Some Chinese LEDs are really quite dodgy whereas halogen quality is more universal, not that I would by Chinese halogens anyways but more of a proportion of halogens are made elsewhere. If they try banning LED dash bulbs however I would tell them they are crazy but with the right set up they couldn't tell the difference and would only get suspicious in that they could read the instruments for a change. katana
It only applies to Headlight 'bulbs' - nothing else, as nothing else has the possibility to dazzle on-coming traffic. So the 'splash' headline is misleading for bulb type but also the fact that the ban applies to modern cars that were not fitted with LED Headlights from the factory when new! Still why let facts get in the way of sensationalsation journalism LOL!

BaileyMex
I retro fitted LED bulbs in our Daily and they made a big difference from he standard factory halogens. I avoided the cheap ones on Amazon/Ebay and bought mine from Auto Bulbs Direct, a bit more, but they were very helpful and advised me which ones work better than others in our type of car https://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/led-car-van-motorcycle-truck-bulbs/
