Johnny Boy
For me it was Exchange and mart for stuff anywhere in the UK , or Friday and for local stuff. 😁 As it happens the wheels are in London, though that is a big area, so could be not too far , but still need to get someone to pick them up 🙄

We used to have to wait for the Motoring News or Exchange of Mart to come out every week hoping someone had what we needed 😄 Sometimes we would proper luck out when a mate wrote his RS off, or we stumbled across one in a breakers yard 😝 I used to love trawling through the breakers, 9 times out of 10 there would me a MK2 there, I had mostly MK2's back in the day and remember climbing 3 or 4 cars high to remove boot lids and bits and bobs, top car swaying a bit in the wind 🤣 Atkinsons in Wimbledon South London was a regular haunt as was Bridges down the M23 Oil everywhere, bag full of spanners and screwdrivers and always somewhere to take a piss, normally in something French 😉 1

We used to drive from one to the other on Saturday mornings, it was like a ritual lol! "Hunters" in Perivale was the most organised, but like you say, you had to go three or four high wobbling about 😁 There was also a massive one in Park Royal that was on the land of a demolished factory, they had acres of land and nothing was stacked. But they were all so busy that they constantly had burger vans outside of them.

I distinctly remember different mates writing of the following cars, Midnight Blue RS2000 with Tan Recaro Interior Java Green RS2000 with Chocolate Recaro Interior & a White Harrier which all went on as donor parts because everyone insured their cars TPF&T back then! I think I had some parts from all of them. I remember drilling out all the spot welds on the midnight blue ones dash as I was converting a LHD one to RHD at the time

Extra bonuses if you sprayed it with cans outside your house and changed engines in the road 🤣
