stuartp
After a decade of reliable, faithful service it's time to sell our Sierra Azura estate. 1.8cvh with 5 speed manual gearbox It's a 1993 car so one of the last ever Sierras - someone probably walked past a brand new Mondeo and bought this (and quite right too!) It's a special edition Azura - it's pretty basic though, I think it was just the alloy wheels that they added It's done 130,000 miles (nearly half of those with me behind the wheel) and until a few weeks ago, never given me any mechanical trouble at all. We've been all over the place in it and it really is the best car I've ever owned in terms of looking cool and not letting me down The reason it's up for sale now is that the engine seized (I'm told just the bottom, the head seems to be ok - I was also told the cam belt was totally fine) I can't really afford to have the 1.8cvh rebuilt or buy a replacement engine and I'm not man enough to attempt anything myself either ;-( This could be the opportunity for someone with more skill than me to sort the original engine themselves or to drop something more exciting in there It's been properly serviced every year and anything needed for the MOT has been done to a good standard - yes it's had some welding underneath, it's also had new sills and rear arches and a replacement rear bumper - it doesn't currently need anything doing to it apart from a few cosmetic bits and bobs. It has 4 new matching Goodyear tyres. It has an obligatory 90s big bore back box but apart from that (and a load of stickers) it's completely standard I've filled the boot with all the Sierra spares that I've accumulated over the years and this will all be thrown in with the price. There's all sorts, a front bumper, headlights, rear lights, indicators, wing mirrors, door glass, handles, dash clocks, trim etc. MOT until December 2021 Located in South East London and I work from home so viewing can be arranged pretty much whenever suits you £2500 Contact me on here or get me on 07939 206540 Obviously it can't be driven as it is so it will need to be trailered away to its new home I really love this car so it's been a tough decision and I'll not be giving it away

stuartp
It's quite a rare beast 1.8cvh goes really well I reckon (well, not this one at the moment, but it did!)

BaileyMex
Is it on eBay Stuart? Personally I don't like selling on eBay due to their extortionate fees, but in situations like this, an auction could go mad for your car.

I'm hoping to avoid eBay but it does feel kind of inevitable that it'll end up on there - I will give it a bit longer though, I'd love to just go directly to a fellow old Ford head - potentially got someone coming round tomorrow

I thought I'd put this up online and it'd be gone in a couple of days I'd love to see this old thing with something fruity under the bonnet!

Cant believe this hasnt sold! Im in the market for a moderate sized Estate but they are few and far between here with our obsessive ute culture. I am told we have Mondaeo Estates but I have never even seen one on the road let alone one for sale! If I was in the UK I would have already been knocking at your door to check it out. DT36
We had a Sierra Estate when we lived in Germany and the kids were little. Was a good car and served us well. Mondeo is a big car, but never had one in an estate. ST220 estates are about in the UK as a 3.0 V6 and are just slowly starting to rise in price, although not silly. Surprised me that they have a fairly strong club following too.

Ahhhh they are big then? Hmm it really needs to be more on the smaller side but not a mini but something with a 2lt four would be ideal. Something larger with a V6 would be a bit of an overkill. A 1.8 CVH would definitely do nicely! 1 hour ago, eeb43 said: £1000? Cheeky Monkey!

Mondeo basically replaced the Sierra, but is notably bigger. They will protrude out of a UK supermarket bay. I only suggested the 3.0 V6 as this is the sportier ST version. There are plenty of smaller and capable engined versions at about 2.0 and I also think there is a 1.8 zetec version. Also available as diesels in various CC's. The 1.8 Sierra in this post is a good old bus and would make a lovely project. This engine can be rebuilt as a ZVH, which is a combo of the original CVH and a Zetec, or just rebuilt as is. I half fancied it, but was a bit short of the original asking price. However, I've since just bought a project Mondeo ST, so now got even less money 😂 Edited August 11, 2021 by dt36

It would be great if only they were sold here! You guys get all the good cars, we get the left over South East Asian stuff that's not really suited to Australia. We now even get Utes called the Great Wall. I presumed its because no one can get past when they brake down and block the road. One year they got a "0" safety car rating as the seatbelts weren't even bolted to the floor properly. Chinese plastic trim under 5 years of Australian UV sun? There are going to be alot of coloured powder and plastic fragments on many carpets with owners wondering where their switches have gone!

Sierra's got a very negative reception when they were first introduced in the UK. Jelly Mould was the common derogatory term aimed at them and people preferred the Cortina

It was called the "Button Car Plan". It saw unique car design in the 80s totally plummet. Everything was bland and looked the same. You could even get a Ford Ute rebadged as a Nissan! For us seeing something as unique as a Sierra on a a racetrack was manor from heaven!
