    I have bought something 10 years newer , but a total resto project , its in the projects and restoration section on the forum .
    Mk1 Fiesta XR2 and yes the seats are bit more comfy for me . Time will tell .
    thank you for your kind comment . I described Mex as a nice repaired car .

    Ah rite. Yes, I remember the thread now 😁

    I'm getting old...

  2. Stunning looking car.

    That's how I actually bought mine about 10 years ago. Guy that had it stopped using it, as his Dad couldn't get in and out of it, and the  money helped towards his house deposit.

    Only had mine out once so far this year, as we're going out more in the T5 with our granddaughter on weekends.

    Hope you get what you want for it. Will you get something a bit more modern with seats that suit or not bother with anything?

    So been looking at breakdown cover, majority of companies don't recognise my registration so that doesn't bode well, green flag and a few others said they can't cover me!

    How is covering a precrossflow harder than covering a new computer driven vehicle??

    Is it because they're not mechanics, but just plug a computer in and see what it says people?

    So AA or rac I believe ☹️

    Get your missus to take out the main cover and put you on as a partner for any car that you're travelling in.

    This is what we've got with the AA.

  4. Mk3 Mondeo ST220 going up in value lately. 2.2 ST TDCI also starting to rise. Both cars do require some tlc though, but there's plenty being broken to keep on top of them or replace worn trim.  If you tuck one away now, you will see a return on them.

    I have a Mondeo ST as a chugger for work as the Missus uses our Tiguan as a daily when I'm away from home. In fairness it goes well and is a decent old bus. Does torque steer hard though and gearbox has a limiter on them in 1st and 2nd gear.

    Outside of the Ford scene, Land rover Defenders  doing OK.  Very easy project vehicles these, but be prepared for some work on the chassis.

    My current project is now a VW T5 Caravelle mod for camping and cycling. When this is finished soon, I think my next project is going to be a 70s or early 80s trail bike or enduro, which will hopefully be an investment too.

  5. Not my own words with regards to mirrors...

    The following applies to vehicles first used after 1/6/1978.

    Mirror requirements
    The tables below summarise the number, type and standard of mirror required to be fitted to various types of vehicle. In addition, the following requirements should also be met:

    i) each mirror must be fixed to the vehicle in such a way that it remains steady under normal driving conditions;

    ii) each exterior mirror on a vehicle fitted with windows and a windscreen shall be visible to the driver, when in his driving position, through a side window or through the portion of the windscreen which is swept by the windscreen wiper;

    iii) where the bottom edge of an exterior mirror is less than 2m above the road surface when the vehicle is laden, that mirror shall not project more than 20cm beyond the overall width of the vehicle or, if the vehicle is drawing a trailer which is wider than drawing vehicle, more than 20cm beyond the overall width of the trailer;

    iv) each interior mirror shall be capable of being adjusted by the driver when in his driving position;

    v) except in the case of a mirror which, if knocked out of its alignment can be returned to its former position without needing to be adjusted, each exterior mirror on the driver?s side of the vehicle shall be capable of being adjusted by the driver when in his driving position. This requirement does not prevent such a mirror from being locked into position from the outside of the vehicle.

    AR-15? Perfect Home Defence Weapon LOL! One thing I do enjoy on trips to the US, is going down to local gun range for an hour or so were everything is on offer. In my mind, you can't be 'For' or 'Against' guns until you've used one - properly controlled obviously. But I'm a shotgunner so might be biased but I don't necessarily think Assault weapons should be out there in the general population!

    I personally want my own Bang Stick to take home for when the Zombie Apocalypse comes.  Bottom line is, my cardio isn't what it used to be...

  7. They sent me a mail, as they've owed me money for about 2 years. Said I can have a ticket for this show or Ford Fair in lieu.

    Ford Fair track action had almost zero view points last year and this one doesn't have any track events. Therefore, I've basically said I'll have my money back, but still waiting.

    I think they've shot themselves in the foot with this one and maybe it won't go ahead due to the lack of live action and location.  I'd like to see myself proved wrong though.

    Would you agree the issue described only occurring not long after starting sounds like a fluid viscosity issue?

    Yes, sounds like a cold and worn oil.  Again, going back to the transmissions on the vehicle I work with, the trans has to be brought up to a given working temp before testing any solenoids or clutch fill pressures.  This is the same before driving off, the operator is taught to bring the trans up to temp before driving.

    If you're going for an oil change, you will also need to consider the filter too.

    They are definitely both fluid numbers as it says so with each one  so not sure what to make of that. You may be right that its Mercon V as when I typed in a search for that first number it came up with this link to Ford

    https://www.msds.ford.com/cpc/productDetails.asp?pgn=8&FIRNo=181867&cookieConfirmed=true

    its a 2007 2lt Duratec LS Focus with 4 Speed Automatic transmission so I don't think it wildly differs from the UK ones although most there seem to be 1.8l cars instead. I haven't really been able to get close to the transmission as such with its undertray in place.

    I've just done a bit more searching and it's a minefield.

    Phone the Ford Dealer with your chassis number, so I can't be held responsible... 😂

    Yes I have but it doesn't specifically say any fluid name just a Ford Spec number. WSS-M2C200-C But then in the chart on the opposite page it says WSS-M2C204-A which I thought was odd?

    I'm guessing that one of those is your transmission and the other is power steering.

    I think your best course of action is to actually go into a Ford Dealership with your chassis number, as your car could be built different to a 2.0 UK spec car with a 4 speed auto , which is what I'm using as a comparison.

    Have a look inside one of your door pillars for the build sticker and take a picture of it.  Additionally, can you see a build tag somewhere on your trans, possibly on a bellhousing bolt?

    Sometimes oil choices can be a nightmare.  The transmission oil used in the vehicles that I currently work with has 7 different choices in the manufacturers workshop manual.  We then had to give them a sample of oil for them to trial for comparison and warranty purposes.

    Pure Ford had been axed from the Castle Coombe events list. Statement below.

    PURE FORD ANNOUNCEMENT
    It is with deep regret that Castle Combe Circuit's Pure Ford event will be cancelled for the foreseeable future.

    Since its launch in 2017, organisers have not seen the event grow in the way they expected, leaving them with no choice but to make way for larger events for the time being.

    Thank you for your support in the last few years.

    This was a really good event too. Loads of cars on display and good track action.

    Watched a BBC series on TV called 'The Tourist' recently and they kept saying that Kangaroos were attracted to headlights when driving out in the bush at night.

    I used to be attracted to Bush at night. Getting a bit older now though, but still get drawn in and mesmerised occasionally by the scent 😛
