What about old style REDEX. You took the spark plugs out, tipped some in, let it soak in, plugs back in , start up, and tip some down the carb when running.

Best not to do it when the washing was out.

gearbox

A lot of people bolt the crossmember through the floor, that works ok, if you make up and fit strengthening plates to the floor area where you bolt it though.

I made plates up from the top, with weld in captive bolts, and plates on the underside.

This was on a MK2 Escort, but the idea is the same. I think my crossmember is a Sierra one.

Thanks Guys, I didn't realise that the wheel came apart. I could not see how to do it.

With this new information , I will try again tomorrow.

I don't  appear  to have the skill to fit these seat adjustment wheel's,  anyone know how to fit them, I don't seem to be able, am I missing something  ?

I couldn't  find one ,so I make one up out of 3 mm ply, painted black 🙂

I'm looking for a picture, or ideally dimensions , for the passenger side (RHD)  under dash parcel shelf, as mine is missing.

I had a 1972 2.3 Firenza SL sport back in the early 80's , when all my mates had hotted up Escorts.

The 200 plus Bhp of the tuned 2.3 on 48 delorto's wiped the floor with the Escorts.

The torque kept breaking the Vauxhall gearboxes, so I changed to a Ford Cortina Mk 3 gearbox, and that took the abuse.

I wish I still had it. At the time I didn't know how rare a 2300 SL Sport model was 🙄

Yes I keep looking at the roads, to check if the salt has gone yet. Plus I live in the country, and everywhere is muddy on the roads , so I don't like that either.

I'm really looking forwards to some pent up, drive it like you stole it action.😁

Well it can't be trans fluid then.

Must be engine oil, and it will need further investigation.
