  1. Ahh... Just realised - in the yellow bay - 3 of the pipes seem to come behind the steering column and down towards the chassis rail. Instead of trying to fit all pipework in the space between the mount, steering and block. Thanks for the pics
  2. Thanks Johnny Boy - that's exactly what I was thinking and I've bought parts from Summit before. Rally Pack 2000 - I'm really surprised by those pictures. Pleasantly surprised. They're the longest tubes that I've seen around a 302 in a Capri bay. Others seem to have 'log' style or short 'knotted tubes. Wish it was a bit clearer around the DS so I could see how the tubes navigate the mount and the steering column. The PS really isn't an issue and is the reason why I'd like the tubes as long as possible. Thanks all.
  3. Vista - funnily enough, I spoke to them yesterday! As a non-runner, I can't even consider the cost of flat-bedding it down there - even though I know that they're the best/one of... Thanks for the suggestion though! Thanks Katana- yeah I think that the 'shorty header' tube may be a compromise. They're nowhere near the long tube set-up that I'd love but they're also not the 'log' style mentioned above. They'll probably still need a bit of persuasion but hopefully bring cost right down. 6 months and 3 weeks till this is the wedding car!! Cheers all
  4. Thanks Vista and Eeb43. It's a Ford 302 small block. I know that the Rover 3.5 is more common but I wanted to keep it Ford [even if it's not technically a 'Capri' any more]. 302s were indeed in the SA Perana but had highly restrictive cast iron manifolds meaning that each port probably had an inch at best before collecting. The engine that I've put in is NA with a 4 barrel carb, producing 400+ engine BHP. For all of the effort, time and money etc to do the engine and get it right, I don't want to choke it. I'm based in the NW and the Capri has gone to Cybox on the Wirral. You may have heard of them under their old name 'Peco': I remember Pugs, Escorts, Renaults etc all running around with Peco stickers back in the 90s - it's them. They seem like good guys but have said that they [like a lot of exhaust companies], build from the manifold out, they don't fabricate manifold set-ups. That said, they'll have a go but it's likely to be expensive!!!!! I suppose I was just hoping that someone who'd done it could point me towards a set of tubes that may need amending/bashing slightly, but will be cheaper and quicker to amend than making from scratch. That, and obviously Lockdown makes getting around and talking to people impossible. Thanks both - appreciate your time!
  5. Evening all. Good to be here. Looking for a bit of intel please. I've just managed to get the 5L V8 straight and mounted: it clears the steering rack and has enough space at the firewall - not easy! Having had the Capri taken on a flatbed to a reputable exhaust fabricator, they have phoned me to say that I'm going to struggle fitting any manifold in the DS space other than a cast iron original. These are severely restrictive but do help to take the primary tubes straight back. I really want to get some longer tubes in here. Anyone else done this/solved this before? Thanks in advance Tom
