Well it's been a while now since the Capri's been off the road but I've recently serviced and taxed it ready for the summer. Changed the oil & filter last week using Valvoline 20/50 Racing. Also replaced the thermostat as the car was running slightly hot and found an 89c stat fitted by the previous owner. So I fitted the correct 82c one and also replaced the bottom rad hose which I've been meaning to do for a while. Anyway I've not had much time to do the planned brake conversion which I was hoping to have done by now so thought it was about time to make a start this weekend and this is what I've been up to.... First off was to fit the longer Sierra wheel studs to the modified hubs. The original hubs have been turned down to fit inside the Sierra XR4i/RS Turbo 260mm brake discs and I also had the original mounting tabs removed. I fitted the studs with the aid of 2 x 19mm sockets and an old wheel nut to pull the studs into place When this was done I painted the back of the hubs with some black Hammerite to finish them off Finished hubs with wheel studs fitted Rear view of hub in place And from the front Next I made the brake hoses up which is a really easy job and all the necessary parts are available from Rallydesign I used the following: Stainless brake hose is part no. EUR0 600. I ordered 2 metres just in case and have a some left over. You will need to make up two hoses per side and the fittings are as follows: For the inner wing to strut hose use RD1503 (this pokes through inner wing) and RD1501 on the strut end. For the caliper to strut use RD1503 to fit into caliper and RD1511 on the strut end, all will be clear in the photos I have posted I wrapped the braided hose in tape then used a Stanley knife to make a clean cut Keeping the tape on....I placed the collar from the fitting over the hose making sure the thread was facing the end I had just cut With a small blunt screwdriver I splayed the ends of the braided sleeve away from the inner teflon tube and pushed the olive fitting over the teflon tube and under the splayed braided sleeve I then pushed the male fitting into the teflon tube and screwed the collar on I then tightened with a spanner to compress the sleeve against the olive and provide the seal Job done! All four hoses completed Fitted to caliper That's it for now more updates will follow as I progress...cheers

Thanx mate... No was hoping to have the brakes sorted by now but it's on hold for the mo until I get some time off work. I got all the parts together myself and it worked out much cheaper than getting a complete kit from Caprisport. I just got the brackets from them and most of the other stuff from Rallydesign and ebay. Cost me just over £160 all in including all the fittings. Here's a pic of the main stuff that's going on Going to try it out with the standard master cylinder first as I've heard of mixed results with this (pedal travel) but some say it's fine. Then maybe look at upgrading it depending on what it's like

Heritage Insurance on the Injector http://www.heritage-quote.co.uk/ All mods declared on fully comp policy with agreed value and salvagable rights £170. Very important to try and get salvagable rights when your taking a policy out so you can buy back your motor if written off and save the insurance company getting their mitts on it... Especially for that rare LSD or mint interior you might have fitted in it....

Yeah my Cortina 2.0 Ghia which was my pride & joy but had to go to fund my Capri. Did loads of work to it and was very sad to see it go Sold to a good owner though who sold it on himself after a year of re-living his youth! Cheers Moggy Just been admiring your motor as well like the orange and black combo... looks sweet Was thinkin' of putting quarter bumpers on the front of mine and noticed you've fitted some. Did you make them up yourself or are they modded Mk 2 ones? May just mod a spare Mk 3 bumper I have and see what that looks like...
