  1. just to add something else to consider: this question depends on what you're going to do long-term. if you ever decide to go the 24v route then a 2.8i will save you a lot of trouble, as wil it if you go YB. If you're looking to go fully tuned pinto flavour or zetec, then the normal 4 pot stuff is ideal. whichever you choose, good luck with it
  2. nice, but i'd lose the headlight cover stuff.
  3. Wheels really suit it. Love the mirrors, dehandled doors, etc. It's all those little details that make it stand out, without people knowing why, that i like to see on a car.
  4. love the strobe interior. god that brings back some memories!
  5. and yes, it's a total arsehole to keep clean. the bonnet isnt extended btw, it's totally standard. i had the lip on the end of it colour coded (the bit that bolts to the bonnet and looks a bit like a top slat for the grille) as well as the grille and light surrounds. maybe it looks extended because of that, but it's all definitely standard.
  6. radiator is out of a dohc 2.0 51erra, with fans from same car. i ran it with the 2.8i capri rad and electric fans for ages but nothing really seemed to keep it cool enough. the fans are controlled by a thermotime switch you can see under the bonnet, but i have a manual override one on the dash where the speaker bias switch used to be. under normal driving the thermotime occasionally clicks on, but if i drive it hard i find it easier to bring the fans in manually if i have to sit in traffic afterwards. dont know how others get on with it but i found the 24v can get hot in there very quickly if the cooling system isnt set up just right.
  7. i cant afford one after building this bloody thing! tbh the camera is ok, i'm just arse at taking pics. i'll try to do some better ones.
  8. was going to pic that image out too, has a bit of atmosphere. are there many old fords over there?
  9. very poor quality shot of the interior. no rips!
  10. another under bonnet: plenum resprayed in bmw arctic silver, the rockers i did in a blue plastikote paint from b&q that's a very close match for ford blue. really easy to get a good finish with and hasn't peeled or discoloured. almost looks powdercoated! no rust in engine bay as it gets a covering of waxoyl/used engine oil every year. handy having a black car!
  11. dirty one of the back end (missus): bit better: front on in the rain:
  12. cheers guys. i've got better pics of her but god knows where i've put them!
  13. i'll stick a few more up if anyone wants to see 'em!
  14. *wanders off looking for readers rides threads...*
  15. agreed. this is the problem, once it's gone i cant just replace it with another one. guess i just have to accept they dont make good daily drivers once you start buggering about with them this much. not and stay mint anyway.
  16. welcome mate!
  17. i sometimes think i'd be better off leaving it sat on the drive than in the garage.
  18. switchgear on the steering column, sunroof handle if it has one, washer bottle, any old ford manuals in glovebox, etc.
  19. lol i wasnt planning on spending quite that much! mate has one of them for his xk120, looks like some sort of alien spaceship.
  20. my garage is dry with no leaks but i've noticed the car does have some cold/dampness on it occasionally and i'm worried about the long term effects this could have. does anyone have a good/cheap tip for keeping the garage air dry? -anally retentive of dorset.
  21. i hope classic car owners aren't like bikers* *we're all c***s.
