FBF Posted August 13, 2007 Report Posted August 13, 2007 ive always wondered if there were loads of classic brit stuff across the water. on a sunny day in the UK you may spot 1 or 2 american motors driving around. got to tell you i like your style, we are so similar in that i have my dream car the 62 impala plus all the other bits and bobs that im trying to restore..
Iain2.8i Posted August 13, 2007 Report Posted August 13, 2007 i like how you've kept the original plates on the cars too oops, maybe not then, just read the rest of the thread!!
RS26oo Posted August 13, 2007 Report Posted August 13, 2007 Cool collection you got! Is there mk1 or mk2 Escorts sold here in USA? I am going to San Jose, CA this xmas with my missus to visit her family who live there for 3-weeks! I am hoping to spot few more British OSFs out there up north of California..... San Diego is quite a bit out of range for me!! LOL Sean I work in san Jose and I have never seen any British OSF's on the roads. You see the odd mini, plenty of MG's, TR's, Jags, Lotus etc. Super Car exotica are very common and you will see plenty of Ferraris and Lamborghini's although not if it is raining
RS26oo Posted August 13, 2007 Report Posted August 13, 2007 Escorts were never sold here, although a handfull have been brought over. I've also heard rumors that they were sold in Mexico, so a few should have made their way over from there too. If you see any Old Skool English Fords while you are here, I'll buy you a drink......I've never seen a single one randomly driving the steets in 27 years of living here.....they are that rare! Benny. Did they ever import the Mk2 Lotus Cortina over to the US ?
Benny Posted August 13, 2007 Author Report Posted August 13, 2007 Benny. Did they ever import the Mk2 Lotus Cortina over to the US ? I don't think so, but I wouldn't swear to it. That was right at the time when emissions started to become a concern, and I'm sure the Weber-equipped Lotus engine would not do too well on the old sniffer-test. I've never seen a Mk.2 equipped with Strombergs, which is why I say I don't think they ever came here.
Mr Sam Posted August 14, 2007 Report Posted August 14, 2007 you have quite a collection, i hope the ratty one is staying ratty
Arched Escy Posted August 14, 2007 Report Posted August 14, 2007 wow some beauties there.....datsun mk1 will be very nice when done.the e-type(or XKE as its known over there) is bloomin gorgeous!!
stephens_xpack Posted August 20, 2007 Report Posted August 20, 2007 Top bunch of cars that. My old man has just sold his e-type. Still the ma has a 87 911 carrera, and as well as the fat capri I have an 83 911 SC - but that might have to go so I can get the fat cpari back on the road properly. Would love to live in America, a friend of mine moved to Georgia last August and he loves it, came back to see us a few weeks back and couldn't wait to get back! Sorry got carried away there - welcome to the site. Please someone from this site buy docs car so we can still see pics etc. I do love a fat capri.
