Hi guys,

Havent been on here much for a while (work is crazy) I need some advice please

My escort has been off the road for a couple of months now and I have finally decided (and got the money) to completely strip it (mechanically) and have some fabrication work done on it...

Im pretty sure its a solid car (Baz did a top job  ) but my issue is I dont know whether to have it completely blasted before the work goes ahead or just the underneath and inside blasted... Paul who is doing it can work either way im just conscious of having a car in primer/exposed as it will take me a while to get the money together for paint etc... Im having it bubbled, turreted, linked and watts towers and a weld in cage plus some other bits :D

What should I do??? its def going to have a respray at some point but it may be sometime after the fabrication is done... I dont have much idea about prepping and sorting the shell can anyone help???

Cheers

James.

I just got mine back from the shot blasters, everypanel done bar middle bit of roof, all i did was make sure there was no shot/dust left in it, then degreased it and flashed it in with primer to stop surface rust. just a fine mist should do it, doesnt need to be thick coat.

mine sat around in primer for 2 years in a dry garage but the bloke that sprayed it insisted it was bare metalled again as the primer will absorb water? i blasted mine myself with a small hand held shot blaster & it took ages but was worth doing to get into all the bits round the chassis & up in the bay
