Toby Posted March 23, 2010 Author Report Posted March 23, 2010 So any plans for improvements for this season? its a jems 21 bottom end big valve head mild road cam running 40,s jets to suit it made 161 bhp on sanspeeds rollers .they said it needs 48,s then it should be around 175/180 bhp.still seems quick on the road though I would have thought 45's would be better on a "mild road cam". A good time though - I bet it does feel good on the road
Mrs O/H/C Posted March 23, 2010 Report Posted March 23, 2010 ha, ha , watch out.....mrs lead foot is gonna give it a go this year in her 2.8 capri !! Fook me! Will we be safe in the stands? (Don't tell her I said that) Toby,i thought we were friends He grassed on me straight away didn't he!!?? We are, that's why I know you'll take it in good spirits and forgive me by next year!
MK2Ed Posted March 23, 2010 Report Posted March 23, 2010 ive read somewere theres only one real fast car out there so we will see I think I know to whom you may be referring! And you're right! Lol, the head is burgeoning and it's pretty quick but there are quicker mainly to be found with the money on the stages bearing Diamond cam covers and sequential gearboxes... Still, I'll be a keen voyeur this season when not in Spa and a couple trackdays trying to get some kind of consistency... Am looking forward to enjoying the cars and chilliing at trials and shows for the first dry summer in 3 yrs... and I'll be back at the strip with lower gearing in a year or 2...
Fiesta Steve Posted March 23, 2010 Report Posted March 23, 2010 Could we see a 12 second Crossflow Fiesta this year ??
Billy_smith Posted March 23, 2010 Report Posted March 23, 2010 i'm gona make the estate quicker lower and louder Igot one run last year with a very tired crossflow and got a 16 so hopefully i'll be able to smash that this yr with the new engine and suspension. Gota a box of goodies and a rather worked head sitting there jus gota get some pistons now
russ105e Posted March 23, 2010 Report Posted March 23, 2010 I hope to be in the low 15's this year with the anglebox but i'm building something i hope will be a bit quicker
steve dray Posted March 23, 2010 Report Posted March 23, 2010 I'll be going slower this year. Following my last engine blow I am thinking of removing the nitrous and sticking to normal aspiration. I have had some fun with the gas but I think it's time to ease off of it, (certainly help my wallett any way) . Looking forward to getting the 'no gas' times down
Toby Posted March 23, 2010 Author Report Posted March 23, 2010 Could we see a 12 second Crossflow Fiesta this year ?? That's not proved so easy so far! There are close contenders and tyres have moved on but it will be an impressive achievement who ever does it So will it be you Steve, Simon, or someone else.....?

Toby Posted March 23, 2010 Author Report Posted March 23, 2010 I'll be going slower this year..... Got to be in it to win it! Looking forward to getting the 'no gas' times down Should be good to see. Perhaps when you do put the gas on you'll put a bit less in! I've seen the pictures!
Toby Posted March 23, 2010 Author Report Posted March 23, 2010 .....when not in Spa and a couple trackdays trying to get some kind of consistency... So you're going international! That should be interesting. Is there a particular event you'll be attending?
rsdaz Posted March 24, 2010 Report Posted March 24, 2010 last year i only ran mine at classic ford show and managed a 13.89 @99.66 mph. That was with a 4speed and a 3.54 diff, i now have a tran-x 5speed and a 4.1 diff in it so not sure if it will be any quicker. I am going to remove a bit of wait tho by changing my standard front seats for some lighter more supportive ones and also going to remove the radio and speakers. A may even try it with some slicks, hopefully that will see me doing consistant mid 13's i hope
5hane Posted March 24, 2010 Report Posted March 24, 2010 IF i can finish it in time, i might chuck me Xflow in the "other" project (as theres no way the harrier will be done ) aim is 160bhp- 170bhp, so it could be fun Then ill start on GEN 2

That should be interesting. Is there a particular event you'll be attending? Hello mate, yes, am looking forward to Spa, should be a good trip and will put up a report on here. There’s plenty of familiar faces attending but not all will be in Fords… Last year I did Ford Fair and 2 others via Circuit Days, general events at Silverstone South Circuit. This year I’ll just do 1 more but don’t know when or where yet TBH… As I’ll be at nigh on all shows hopefully we’ll see you in your car Toby…? Speed Trials…?
russ105e Posted March 24, 2010 Report Posted March 24, 2010 I hope to be in the low 15's this year with the anglebox but i'm building something i hope will be a bit quicker Another pre-cross for the Anglia? No , a pinto powered Mk2 Escort I didn't want to fook about with the Anglia as it drives nice as it is , the Escort will be done on a very tight budget

Fiesta Steve Posted March 24, 2010 Report Posted March 24, 2010 Could we see a 12 second Crossflow Fiesta this year ?? That's not proved so easy so far! There are close contenders and tyres have moved on but it will be an impressive achievement who ever does it So will it be you Steve, Simon, or someone else.....? A few have tried and failed, I haven't tried yet I asked Dave what tyres he used when he ran his 13.09 and he said they were meant for indoor racing (American series) and were like chewing gum, he said they are not made any more and the next best thing is the MG4, either that or you need proper drag tyres that not many people seem to use. Unfortunatly I haven't got an engine to compete with yet, I might get something sorted over the summer but don't expect anything too soon.

harris horse power Posted March 24, 2010 Report Posted March 24, 2010 Your right toby should be a good season. Whish I had a good enough car to make your list lol Steve about the slicks I think you should be fine with a set of Hoosiers as I get plently of grip with mine which shows in my 1.8 60ft time
