Admin Mk2Jo Posted January 16, 2015 Admin Report Posted January 16, 2015 Ahhhh ... the good old days ! 5
Admin Vista Posted January 17, 2015 Admin Report Posted January 17, 2015 I dunno Jo, I don't fancy that ambulance much, I don't think they were much more than vans with sirens back then
e501 Posted January 17, 2015 Report Posted January 17, 2015 Still a welcoming sight, got picked up by one back in 1972 after a stupid car driver (maybe in a ford) knocked me of my motor bike,
Danish Posted January 17, 2015 Report Posted January 17, 2015 I don't think they were much more than vans with sirens back then Yup, and driven by a driver, with the medics waiting back at the hospital.
Admin Mk2Jo Posted January 17, 2015 Author Admin Report Posted January 17, 2015 Mike ... perhaps you could persuade them to have one now as a kind of show car for good public liaison or something 1
mk2 mike Posted January 17, 2015 Report Posted January 17, 2015 Gotta be better than this piece of junk we have. Mountune tuned ST, 300bhp just sits there spinning its wrong (front) wheels. Torque steer is horrific too. Much rather have the mk2. 1
PeteRS8084 Posted January 17, 2015 Report Posted January 17, 2015 I remember when growing up in Essex the police had what only seemed to be fords, I remember mk2 cortina, either 1500 or 1600 gts, and southend police even had several unmarked cars, pretty boring escorts but their was a gold anglia, with a lotus engine! But as bad boy youths of the day driving around in our mk2 cortinas we knew all the unmarked cars! Happy days. 1
turnover Posted January 17, 2015 Report Posted January 17, 2015 You southern lot must remember these ,they had rs200 up here for a few years on the m1
Kieran Posted January 17, 2015 Report Posted January 17, 2015 This one Terry Definitely a bit better lol
Admin Mk2Jo Posted January 17, 2015 Author Admin Report Posted January 17, 2015 That's rubbish Mike (but I'd still quite like to have a go lol
PeteRS8084 Posted January 17, 2015 Report Posted January 17, 2015 Must have been hard driving your shitter to work as a traffic cop and then having to drive round in a rs200 all shift, hard life eh!
accord83 Posted January 17, 2015 Report Posted January 17, 2015 Don't get me all misted eyed, I remember the Senator/Cavalier SRi days, getting a Senator sideways on my Traffic Course was a hoot, but not maybe not what was expected or required. Blind brow with a 90 right in the dip and the road you saw straight on was a farm drive, (Escape road? What escape road? I was brought up on Escorts) Happy Days. 1
PeteRS8084 Posted January 17, 2015 Report Posted January 17, 2015 Also remember as kids our dad would drive over to France to a campsite for a week of tent erecting, but I remember that Kent Police cars were always really good, jags and even mgb. But you still can't beat a good old jam sandwich cortina in Southend! 1
2512pf Posted January 19, 2015 Report Posted January 19, 2015 Some nice looking cop cars there except the focus lol
dalmarshall Posted January 19, 2015 Report Posted January 19, 2015 I don't mind the focus they're good cars......its the RS 200 I've never understood the appeal (looks wise)
mk2 mike Posted January 19, 2015 Report Posted January 19, 2015 The normal focus is a great car. The mountune one is horrendous to drive. Suspension too harsh, clutch is a bitch and too much power through the front. 1

jdw3696 Posted May 23, 2015 Report Posted May 23, 2015 Think yourselves lucky you didn't have to drive Vauxhall Astras. That's what we used when i joined
Admin Vista Posted May 23, 2015 Admin Report Posted May 23, 2015 Now we're talking, this one is still around too
PeteRS8084 Posted May 23, 2015 Report Posted May 23, 2015 Merseyside, it was on for the love of cars, first series, with the mk1 mexico........or am I mistaken, or just 3 sheets to the wind!
khanlad Posted May 23, 2015 Report Posted May 23, 2015 Im sure i read somewhere the rs200 was just a promotional thing that they did with the 3dr, they had 4×4 cosworths in the west midlands, only 2 of them though
Chris standage Posted May 24, 2015 Report Posted May 24, 2015 Compared to today's corsas and astras they all look good fun, the bmws and audis are a bit of a hoot on the road, they all get used and abused though, the state I've seen some 14 reg bmws come into the workshop hahaha
