jdw3696 Posted June 18, 2015 Report Posted June 18, 2015 Hi all, so after a lot of thought and a change in circumstances, buying a house, i am going to have to say goodbye to my Mk 1Cortina. The car is having some minor issues sorted for the new owner at the minute. Those of you who know the car on here will be aware it didn't like starting. Turned out to be dirty contacts and dizzy cap. Ill put some better pictures up asap. Where to start. So its a 1964 Mk 1 Cortina in light blue with white roof, fully restored, stripped, painted, paint looks stunning. Interior fully replaced by aldridge trimmers, brand new deep dish minilites and tyres, racing tfully rebuilt racing pre crossflow throbnozzle engine, has had head work and a high lift cam, weber carb. Car runs really really well and has a good turn of speed. Stacks of history and mots etc, loads of money spent on it in the past and in my ownership. I'll list the cars benefits: Lovely wooden steering wheel Fully restored interior, exterior, engine. New stainless steel quater bumpers Negative earth conversion, battery in the boot. Halogen headlights Everything in the interior is new, im currently having some bits improved at the trimmers as i write. Electronic ignition Weber twin choke with k and n filter New gt exhaust manifold and full stainless steel exhaust Type 9 5 speed gearbox with quick shift Rs 2000 bell housing and ap competition clutch All new copper brake lines with powertrain servo Front and rear disc brakes, hydraulic handbrake and bias valve New gaz coilovers on the front Capri single leaf spring with spax dampers on the rear All new steering joints etc Capri large radiator New minilites. Probably some ive missed. Car is amazing and ive now sorted the few minor issues i had. Obviously car has a few chips but no rust at all and car is in outstanding condition all over. Mot till april 2016. Ill get some photos up asap. Sad sale but i have to be realistic. A 6 yr old son in a fifty year old car as my only car and when trying to buy a house doesn't work. So the mrs says. Thanks. Offers invited on £10k. All the best. Joe 1
Admin Vista Posted June 18, 2015 Admin Report Posted June 18, 2015 Car looks lovely but the ad will need a price please?
jdw3696 Posted June 18, 2015 Author Report Posted June 18, 2015 Thankyou. Yeah both for sale. Planned to sell the e28 and use the Cortina everyday, now it looks like ill end up with neither. My classic car days are numbered for now
PeteRS8084 Posted June 18, 2015 Report Posted June 18, 2015 Gutted for you mate, especially after your sorting the issues you had! Perhaps you will have another in the not too distant future. Good luck with the sale, fingers crossed for a lack of tyre kickers! Pete
jdw3696 Posted June 18, 2015 Author Report Posted June 18, 2015 Thanks Pete. Yeah im gutted too. It seems to happen quite a bit. I buy cars, sort them out and then have to say goodbye to them.
jdw3696 Posted June 19, 2015 Author Report Posted June 19, 2015 Hi. Not long unfortunately. Just over six weeks. Spent that time getting it running right and looking the way it should. Realistically though i cant afford it as my only car. Real shame
khanlad Posted June 20, 2015 Report Posted June 20, 2015 Sell the bm, get something newer and hopefully more practical and reliable, sort of squirel the cortina into the garage under some blankets ? Dont talk about it for a couple of weeks, all will be forgotten, you still have the tina! Ta daa! All is good?
jdw3696 Posted June 20, 2015 Author Report Posted June 20, 2015 Im very tempted, or i just get a new mrs
