The 1.6 pinto boxes will be identical to the 2.0L boxes - only the Sierra ones are different by having an integral bellhousing, gear ratio's are shared by all

nope not even related different splines both ends and a 1600 mk3/4/5 box are usually around 2.3 -1 2nd gear compared to the 2-1 of the 2l box

the only boxes with integral bellhousing is the small engined escorts

That is right 1.6 pinto box is a type 3 box input shaft 7/8" x 20 spline,  2.0 pinto box input shaft 1" x 23 spline, reason I do not have mine rebuilt is I do not have one, I am fitting 2.0 pinto in a MK2 and am waiting on the box, did not really want a five speed. As I said  I find it strange not many years ago the yards were full of scrapped rusty Cortina's,

I never did understand the swap and change for different gearboxes in the MK2 lineup in the UK. Here they put the Type E in everything. 1.3 and 1.6 Crossflows and 2.0L Pintos. One gearbox for all, no mucking around on the production line and easy to keep one set of parts. I cant imagine it saves much money in the long run using a slightly weaker box for lower powered engines once you factor in extra production costs and parts storage and the like.

Hi,

I am going to both Hertfordshire  and Cornwall in the next 3 weeks, if "OLDWHEELS" wants to sort out with "MATT 74" I can collect and pay for the gearbox and "OLDWHEELS" can pay me and everyone is happy, not 100% sure on the dates, but I am collecting an engine from  Hertfordshire and will be dropping off some parts I have sold to a guy who runs a body shop in Cornwall.

So I could pick up a gearbox and drop it off, call it a pint and I am happy.

Let me know what you want to do.

Cheers Al.
