Mk2 escort front suspension, help required 😭

Recommended Posts

Hi all . I am haveing a nightmare putting the front end of my mk2 together 🤬 I have got a pair of "World cup" front bilstein front struts fitted with -1 in springs with roller top mounts a wcxm with ajustable tca's, a 2.4 quick rack a twin cam arb and the correct ( from gp4 fabrication) double width  brackits . Now i know the twin cam arb pulls the front struts forward  to give better camber but this just looks silly, and the struts are nearly hitting the inner wing supports 😳 . And the outher problem i have got is the drivers sids rack arm wont drop down far enough to connect to the strut but the passenger side one will 🤦‍♂️ Any advise please cus its doing me head in now ☹

If the struts are almost hitting the supports, then the brackets or roll bar are wrong. A lot of the 'twincam' roll bars are nowhere near like what they're supposed to be geometry wise-and the brackets are usually wrong as well. The manufacturers just state 'Twincam rollbar' for better sales i think lol. A lot of aftermarket escort stuff isnt fit for purpose.

I think it will be better with some weight on the struts that should bring them back a bit-and will help with the tre's fitting on drivers side as well?

With my adj tca’s ive had to use extended track rod ends at £100 pair but you can buy rack extensions for about £35

How much negative are you putting on to warrant extended tre or rack extensions ?

The twin cam arb was bought from rally design about 10 years ago 🤔 The brackits are from gp4 fabrication, i got them a few weeks back cus i thought the ones i had were wrong but thay made no difference.  Think i might have to get one from grp 4 to match there brackits.
