where to get bolts plated

can anyone recommend a company to plate some nuts and bolts, my son is restoring a 70's toyota and wants to plate the nuts and bolts. he has rung a local company, but they didnt seem very interested in the job

give Hockley Enterprises a call, reason i say them, is they do the 70s green used on some 70s japanese cars, as well as the usual gold, silver and black, they also do chrome plating, zinc plating for nuts bolts etc is done by the bucket load

like everything, if you do some prep work first, the job will be far better, ie, you can just give to them dirty and rusty, they will acid dip, but dont expect it to be rolls royce standard, but if you sand blast it all first, then the job will be far superior

please beware that if you electroplate high tensile fittings they can suffer enbrittlement and will need to baked in an oven after plating, ie caliper mount bolts can shear after plating

ok, didnt know that, cheers for the heads up 👍

all the bolts we had plated are just engine stuff, to make them look pretty, cheers 🙂
