MK1 1600GT Estate

Recommended Posts

It was great to meet up with the OSF team at NEC yesterday, thanks for the great welcome.

I drive a 1974 Mk1 1600GT Estate in Vista Orange.

There are very few estates still around so its often a magnet at shows.

If any other members see me around, come over for a chat.

Hope to be on your stand at some point next year.

It was good to meet you on stand yesterday and welcome to the forum.

Car looks great, best colour for a mk1 Escort. Anyone who says different is going on the OSF naughty step 😎

Orange the best Mk1 Colour you think? Hmmm Let me check ........ (goes out to shed) ........... oh yes your right Orange is the best!

Is a 1600GT a SA or Oz import model?
Nice looking car BTW 👍

Not one of ours we never got Estates here. New Zealand did but they pretty much copied the UK lineup not create any new models.

@Vista Estate Welcome to the forum.

Thank you all for the welcome.

Car history is a bit patchy. It did start life over here but had a spell abroad. It has had a heart transplant though. Shell fully factory strengthened but was that for export or something else as it was right on the transition to Mk2 time.

I know the Mk1 Mex estate that's in Yorkshire too and there was an RS2000 one as well. Other shells were made and two more finished. If we had an UK mk1 estate club though we would have a small member list. 😀 Maybe I should start one as part of OSF? We could get a line up at NEC next year!  Lets gets some pics for this forum and see.

Whatever its history, though I'm glad to keep another rare Mk1 on the road.

Come and say hello if you get to shows in Yorkshire - you can't miss me 👍

BTW - Orange is not just the best colour its the only one worth having 😀😀

Vista............. I clicked the link for the Estate club, but it took me back to the home page ?

Thanks

Richard

Sorry, forgive my sense of humour. It was a roundabout way of suggesting you'd already found the right club 😉

You know, I kinda thought something wasn't right but then assumed I had clicked the wrong bit !!!

I was just interested in finding out about a Mk1 or 2 Escort Estate club as my Estate will be finished in the next year and would like to get involved.

Cheers

Richard

I think what Vista was hinting was that we include ALL Classic Fords regardless of doors, roofs, engines, hence how OSF grew to be one of the biggest Classic Ford forums - dare is say it in a Jeremy Clarson voice  - 'in the world'

Not aware of any specific Estate clubs though sorry

If you use Facebook, and count FB groups as a bona-fide club, then there's a van / estate group on there called The Longroof club
