Might have one, Col. If I do, it's off a drivers side Capri unit.  Can't remember if it has one on it or not.

I'm not home at the moment, as I'm sat outside a Vacs centre waiting for Betty. Will check later 👍

Thanks Dale. 👍

go purchase a magnum mirror, they are quite cheap, throw the mirror in the bin for what theyre worth, but they come with 2 new seals to fit mk1 and mk2 doors and being new rubber they are soft, and yes they fit the ford mirror, done this on Nicks car

The rubber I’ve got is to big to fit the mirror, so what it’s off don’t have a clue. Passenger side mirror ( remote) is off a Reliant scimitar SS1 and fits perfect and came with a thick gasket. The drivers mirror with the gasket on to give you a clue on wrong size

That Scimitar one is alot thicker than the originals and wont match the original one I pictured above. The spacer I have pictured above is the correct one that comes with Mk2 RS Remote Mirrors when new.

Its also same ones on RP2000

Trouble is you really have to use spacers of the same origin otherwise one always droops lower than the other. Finding an original passenger remote spacer is a whole new level of rare. While many Escorts there came with remote drivers it means the spacer for those are easier to find but the passenger remote mirrors were options so there is only the fraction of them about. Do the drivers Reliant ones match up as well?

My drivers mirror is supposed to be RS remote std fitment, I was surprised  when the scimitar mirror fitted perfectly and the correct RS mirror didn’t. The slight differences in the mirrors can only be seen when you walk round the car. When you look from the front they both look the same. It’s just the gasket issue of getting the right one to make the mirror level.

considering I only paid £60 brand new in the box for the scimmy one didn’t think it was a bad deal. No RS tax …lol

Don't forget RP that LHD cars have remote mirrors, on the left as well, so I think the supplied numbers were probably equal or only slightly biased to RHD. If anyone is interested I have a passenger side remote mirror and spacer that I don't want / won't fit (even though they are of more use compared to a drivers side one!)

Could I possibly see more of the RS gasket/spacer to see if its the same one as pictured above? The standard RS ones dont exactly mount the mirror at 0 degress out so that may be why the Scimitar one looks like it fits better LOL

Thats true I just dont seem to see that many left remote mirrors for sale compared to right hand side ones. Even less with the spacers.

Is the left remoter spacer on yours the same as the one I have pictured above? Maybe between us we can get Col, a matching pair of spacers.

Someone needs to 3d scan these so they can be 3d printed reproductions

Its a great idea in theory. I have a pair of new ones that could be scanned but I still have yet to see a 3D product that looks like the original as every item I  have seen has that jagged finish to it. Until the reproduction looks as good as the original getting them made in 3D wont really solve the problem enthusiasts have trying to make the cars look original.

I have to agree with that sentiment. 3D printing is great for prototyping parts as proof of concept but as RP says the resolution (at least with plastic filament) just isn't possible - at the moment. I'd have thought taking a silicone mould of an original, upper / outer form and then casting in a suitable plastic would be easier / more productive in limited quantities? The internal / back side could be solid ie. doesn't 'need' to be hollowed out as long as it has a degree of pliability to conform to panel profile? I'm no materials / casting expert and it certainly wouldn't be of commercial value, just enthusiast DIY market I guess?
